	Two words:  FF Missiles.  =)

	Load up your Centurion with 20 FF missiles and use them to attack
any Retro that comes near Salman Rushdie.  Allocate 2 FF missiles apiece--
The Retros' Talon light fighters can seldom withstand two simultaneous FF
hits.

The mission IS just hard. Ignore the first few Retros, they are after you. 
Always stay close to Toth's Drayman, use missiles (IR or FF) to kill the 
retros that are attacking him. Two missiles launched together (two 
launchers on a Centurion) are able to kill an undamaged Talon in about 90% of 
all cases. In the conversation with Toth, get him to say: "I hope we wont't 
meet any Retros" or something similar. The attack from The Church of Man will 
then start immediately; no problems with the automatic landing. After all 
Retro ships are destroyed, follow Toth to Oxford; when his ship stops, you can 
land.
If you have a Centurion, you can fly towards the attackers using the 
afterburner and kill them with missiles before they even come near to Toth. 
But you have to be really fast, otherwise the next wave will reach him.

Toth looked like Salman Rushdie-- You know, the guy who wrote the Satanic
Verses and because of that the Iranians put a $1 million bounty for his

You DO need to go to Palan.  It's easy to get there.  From Perry jump
to Tingerhoff, then you should be able to jump to palan.  If the
planet is blockaded by Bounty Hunters, you are just going to have to
fight your way through or outrun them.  When you get there, you will
get more missions.

I don't know what other people think about this but I found that in 
Centurians with shield generator 3 (or 4 in Rightous Fire) the best 
tactic against most enemies (especially talons) was to ram them.  On 
the mission in question you can ram the retros and kill them quicker 
than is possible with guns.  Sometimes you have to revert to guns when 
your shields are low, but they recharge pretty fast.
