Look, I never said this site was the "ultimate source". I am simply using
this very large site to try (very unsuccessfully it seems) to convince you
that your not right. I am not saying I am right either. Im simply saying it
isent as clear cut as you seem to make it out to be. Its not, and that's the
fact. Did you by chance look at some of the reviews on that site? Reviews by
REAL people. I don't care about what Origin says, because Origin is but a
company who is no where near above "lying". Just because they say it is a
stand alone game means nothing. Oh No More Lemmings was said to be a stand
alone game. Have you ever played oh no more lemmings? I love the game but..
Its nothing but an add on to the original lemmings. But it did come on its
own little disk though didn't it? It's the "feel" of the game. And that is
not something somebody can be "correct" about. It is something that is
individual to us all. To me, WCSO is an add on, to you it's a stand alone
game. Your not wrong, but your not right. And your telling me im wrong,
which is really pissing me off. You say Interstate 76's expansion packs were
an exception to the rule. I say I Activision actually told the truth
compared to Origin. They said "here, we have this game, its pretty much the
same as the last game with new levels and new cars, you don't need the
original game to play it, but its still an expansion pack." Origin didn't
say that. Its not in Origins best interest to say its only an add on. More
people would look at it if they said it's a stand alone game. Still, people
looked at it and they said its just an add on as people have done many times
before. Companies lie. They mislead. Technically speaking they may have
tweaked something so they cant get sued, but in the players mind they see
its sub-par to an stand alone game. My showing you this site and its reviews
is simply showing you humans who believe as I do. Players of the game just
as yourself and me. People who played the game, LIKED IT, but said "ya know,
this thing ant no stand alone game" just as they did with Oh No More
Lemmings so long ago. Just as they've done with many other games in the
past. I only mentioned the alternate title because once again im showing you
humans. People. I know its not an official title. It says so right on the
site, it says "Wing Commander 5 (Non-official title)" in other words its
what the PEOPLE think. Its not sanctioned by Origin, but its what the people
feel. Even though it wasn't the official title, there were enough people who
thought of it as Wing Commander 5 that this site decided to write that in
the alternative title spot. However, there was not a Wing Commander 6 under
WCSO alternative title. There was no alternative title. That's why this
whole thing started right? Someone came here speaking of Wing Commander 6
and then you I think came here saying "Oh no, are we still having this
discussion that WCSO isent Wing6?". It is nowhere near as truthful as you
are putting it. It is not a 1+1=2 thing. 1+1 we all know its 2. It just pops
in there. WCSO is nothing like that. People doubt it. I could find more of
them for you. I could look and look and look and Id probably come up with
even more people who believe the way I do. Im not saying the game is an add
on, the only thing im arguing here with you is that its not so clear cut. I
don't believe there is a right answer to this. I am not so willing to trust
the big company like you are. I think they had reasons for saying what they
said and I don't believe the reasons were "To tell the truth to our faithful
buyers". No, it's a business, and they want money. One way or another, they
want money. Even if the game was free, just the fact that all these people
are coming and downloading it is good business because now they might see
all these other advertisements while coming onto our website and they might
buy another one of our games. Or perhaps they planed to package it with
Prophecy and make a little money later on with their Gold edition. Its about
money. I combat your view of Origin being the far more solid source for
their own games. I believe your wrong. WE the GAMERS who BUY their games are
by FAR the more solid source for their games. Oh yeah. And we the gamers
disagree on if this is a stand alone game or not. I don't think the Moby
site is any kind of definitive resource, im simply saying real people run
it. Gamers run it. People like us. People who buy the games, not people who
are paid to market the game. Now im not the kind of person who just
automatically distrusts the "big" companies. But I sure don't just take
whatever the say at truth like you seem to be doing. I look at it, and I try
to think of it from there point of view, and I see its not a smart marketing
decision to say its an add on. Just because they say it, doesent make it
true. I know almost everything can be debated, and I know that they can have
a right answer to them. This I don't believe is one of them. I think this is
up to us, the gamers. A strictly opinionated thing.
