Here is my collection of strategies on Warcraft 2. Please add you own! Thanks When Surrounded by water, you MUST dominate the seas. If you do this you have guaranteed a WIN. To dominate the seas, you need a foundry and airships/aeroplanes. This means you will not get attacked by subs. Subs are good at the beginning for when the enemy has no airships. Then build up Destroyers and battle ships. Take out the enemy shipyard so they cant have ships. Keep it destroyed. Then take out the oil refineries + all other ships. Now you have got total naval dominance. They will now go for Flying if they are marooned on an Island. Make loads of destroyers. If you are attacked by a huge fleet of ships and you dont have naval Dominance, then you can flatten them with catapults, that have longer range than ships. Also Ballistas. Then Make a Blizzard/whirlpool to finish them off. Take out the Flying ships with guard towers. Scared of Gryphons/Dragons? Dont be! 4 archers at 2000 gold or axe throwers will stop them. Keep then spaced out though! You should only lose one archer (500) gold, while they lose a dragon at 2500. Ha Ha Ha ! Blizzards take out everything and so do Whirlwinds. Spy on them with Airships If you have killed a few dragons and flattened there fleet then they cant get you and will build up a defence. Dont let them!, by attacking early with loads of archers, catapults, ballistas, and Paladins and footmen. Subs cant attack land so use them on ships early! They are dead if there is a flyer above. Use slow spell on the flyers, its easy to shoot them. Sappers/Demolition squad are brill for taking out annoying buildings like dragon roosts. Send in huge groups of them in transports to kill the enemy. Guard towers will take out the dragons and zeppelins. If the enemy are over a stretch of water, then make your village on the opposite side of your island. Then build a few guard towers in your village and then some at regular intervals across the island towards the enemy island. All dragons detailed to attack your base will be shot at on their way to your village. Plant runes where transports keep landing so they take out all those men who are unloaded. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- | George Sylvain Email: geo...@sylvain.demon.co.uk | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- --

This is because you can just build a transport to one of the islands, set up a base with strong defences. Polymorph if you are sitting around and there is nothing going to happen for a while. Blizzard on a group of them. > they cant get you and will build up a defence. Dont let them!, by > attacking early with loads of archers, catapults, ballistas, and Paladins > and footmen. I stress the importance of peons during this stage. A good number to set early in the game is 9 (2 farms). Of course the more the merrier :) Though early in the game I just recommend footmen (hordes of them) to attack any opposing bases. As well, the Blacksmithy will add considerable life to your units compared to lower equipped troops. > Subs cant attack land so use them on ships early! They are dead if > there is a flyer above. Don't get subs - Battleships are more useful for a slight increase in the cost. They become obsolete as soon as the opposing player has the Dwarven Inventors or Goblin Whatevers... > Use slow spell on the flyers, its easy to shoot them. Had a brilliant idea for flyers and mages but it doesn't work - cast flame shield on them. Oh well... > Sappers/Demolition squad are brill for taking out annoying buildings like > dragon roosts. If you know in advance where it is coming from, then by all means send the fellows to intercept them. Each Sapper does 400 hp of damage. If you see a group of farms together (esp. 3 of them) the Sapper if placed in the right position can take them all out. > some at regular intervals across the island towards the enemy island. > All dragons detailed to attack your base will be shot at on their way to > your village. Problem with that is you have towers alone for a while and will be easy to kill when attacked by moderate numbers. Recommend Guard Towers over Cannon Towers. You are better off building a Catapult if you want the power of the Cannon Towers (and possibly more). Both are useless up close, which is why I prefer Guard Towers. Plus the fact that they can attack air units. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Shawn Rycroft Carleton University Email address: sryc...@chat.carleton.ca ----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been playing this game a lot (i.e. at least a game a day, sometime 2 or 3) lately and have come up w some interesting strategies to use against the computer in a Multiplayer Cooperative match. 1. First the Computer will not attack you if it can not see you. I have found it easy to wall off large sections of area and then just stay away from the wall. The computer will not attack walls unless it can actively see someone on the far side. 2. Second towers are MUCH more efficient in the early game. The reason for this is the towers armor, hit points and attack ability make it optimal for defense. Also towers can be repaired.. and used many times where as archers or grunts get killed or injured and cannot be healed till much later in the game. 3.Third the computer does not recognize killing fields. By this I mean that the computer does not recognize towers as units and in this particular area does not react to overwhelming force. I can set up four or five towers with some walls to channel the enemy ground forces and kill 45 to fifty of his units and take no losses. Yet if I do the same with units he will react to the situation and change fronts before he takes heavy casualties. 4.Fourth, overwhelming force is the best way to minimize casualties. If you can kill a opponent before he has time to shoot more than once you can minimize damage. This works particularly well with either Grypons or Dragons. One or Two just get killed. Four to Six destroy his forces quickly if told to attack one target then the next, then the next, etc. This should be good to get things started. If you agree or disagree I would be happy to hear your opinions. Brian Lewis
