.. is a good xpac. I liked WoD while I leveled through it, but I hit the boredom quite fast at 100. Legion feels different. Dont ask me how or why. Your opinion about the expansion, please. -- Peter T.

Legion feels different. Dont ask me how or why. I dunno. There is a lot of "OK, you're level 110? Great, start grinding resources" -- Not that I condone fascism, or any -ism for that matter. -Ism's in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an -ism, he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in The Beatles, I just believe in me." Good point there. After all, he was The Walrus. I could be The Walrus and I'd still have to bum rides off of people.

Gold is definitely not a problem anymore. With a little effort I can make 2k gold just by doing world quests in 1-2 hours. Junk has become gold. While leveling from 100 to 110 I made like 10-15k gold in 3 days by vendoring junk + handing in quests. But this has an impact on prices on AH as well. 850 epics easily goes for 150k+ gold. ^^ Despite I have done all zones but Suramar I still find loads of new quests in the completed zones. I love that. :) Dungeons are actually fun in this expansion compared to WoD. Professions got a new overhaul. I like the idea behind the 1-3 stars recipes. And also with professions there are loads of new quests. No more ordinary training. Blizzard has taken some elements from vanilla WoW and updated them to today's standards. Etc. I'm looking forward for raiding in this expansion! =) -- Peter T.

I enjoyed the one zone I've played so far, with a gnome distruction
warlock. Though my goblin subtilty rogue is stuck in the artifact
quest (can't kill Akaara).
I think, however that with the now four(?) continents it's only
possible to leave by portal, they should introduce harthstones to
Stormwind and Ogramar according to faction.

Love it so far; I've reached the stage where I started to feel the boredom in WoD, finished main questlines etc... but I keep opening new quests up with new bits of story to tell. World quests are a lot more interesting in both content and rewards than "fill the bar for a currency that buys junk"; Suramar is so full of detail that I'm still happily exploring it and discovering new things all the time, as indeed I'm doing in every other zone, theyre so full of hidden things to find. Class storylines mean I've already started on an alt to see another chain, even dungeons have been decent so far, in that I'm yet to encounter a group that's made me quit them for the next year or so, as usually happens within the first 4-5 runs I attempt :-P Granted I've only tried a few due to connection problems (a healer who fails to zone in would not be too popular since people tend to pull before checking everyone's rpesent...) but I've certainly done more than I usually manage. A few annoying things, but so far they don't outweigh the good for me: there's slightly too many quests that involve dungeons, and while I can live with normal dungeons, I object to being asked to go to mythic ones for main storyline quests (not even the side storyline for the mythic-only dungeons in Suramar, but a major artifact-related one has just sent me to Eye of Azshara mythic). Heroic is more than enough; most the people who are into lore and story aren't the high-end content types. Also I really dislike finding myself suddenly in a pvp zone when I am on a pve server for a reason: the static ones are bad enough, but at least you learn where those are; the ffa ones which move depending on the world quests of the day really bug me, they don't even warn you on entering them.

Gearing is actually easier than it's ever been (outside of Timeless Isle type catchup times hehe), if you don't mind picking out a few world quests each day - I'm already 835 ilvl without doing any dungeons higher than normal so far and am actually looking forward to levelling and gearing my alts for once. Simply do any world quests which reward gear: as your ilvl increases, so too does the ilvl of the quest rewards (for a time, at least, it mostly stops around 825-830, after that only some will go higher), plus there's a decent chance that it'll warforge up 5-10 ilvls or even titanforge (which is when it procced a 15+ ilvl increase). I've got 2 ilvl 850 items now (the current max possible; once raids open it'll be 895, although changes of titanforging going THAT high are slim; it'll feel like a lottery win if you ever do get one hehe), and lots 830+. Dungeon drops also have the chance to warforge/titanforge if you prefer that for gearing btw, but I'd definitely take the time to do worldquests when they offer gear for slots you have low ilvls in - also the emissary quest (complete 4 world quests for the same faction) was hotfixed yesterday to give a random item; mine gave 840 boots yesterday so that seems to give a chance for decent gear too. Also if you complete the order hall questchain that unlocks your 3rd relic slot which is a big ilvl increase on your weapon (immediately adds 25-30 ilvls if you have a relic to hand). I've been surprised how well gearing went for me; when I hit 110 it looked like a pretty big wall to get up to whatever will be required for LFR, yet as it is, 1 week later half my slots are now higher than LFR *drops*, so I guess I'll be hoping for warforges in there - good thing I like the looks of the LFR priest set, plus after Val'sharah seriously want Xavius's head on a pike, so I've still got plenty motivation to go there :-P

Removed a lot of abilities from classes, such as elementals and earth shield from the resto shaman and of course the class buffs like Arcane Brillance. Seems to be dumbing down game play. Forced questing...I like to level with dungeons on my resto shaman...they nerfed the crap out of XP for dungeon leveling. Dungeons are great...I like how you sometimes come in on an different entrance to some of them and some bosses spawn in random spots...mixes things up a bit. Class Hall Missions...looks like you have to grind for Order Resources...not too happy about that. I'm guessing they will fix this in a later patch when people start to bitch. I think if they fix Order Resources and dungeon XP, I would be happy.

The other abilities, well, they said they wanted specs to feel more distinct and I guess they succeeded, but some work for me better than others. Luckily I really enjoy both specs I play on my main, and so far have no issue with the one alt I've started to lvl, some other classes I was less sure about with the limited playing I did during 7.0, but we'll see... >Forced questing...I like to level with dungeons on my resto shaman...they >nerfed the crap out of XP for dungeon leveling. Heh, I have a problem with forced dungeons, so I guess we're even :-) Questing isn't that bad, healers are supposed to be less weak than usual (can't speak for other classes but Disc is really *strong*, while Holy is far less weak than it was in past expansions), and as you can get all offspec artifacts by lvl 102 that is also an option if you like other specs. I won't be one of those people who says "just use your dps spec" though because I hate it when people say that to me; I can understand if you have the same feeling as me on that! >Class Hall Missions...looks like you have to grind for Order >Resources...not too happy about that. I'm guessing they will fix this in a >later patch when people start to bitch. Depends how you define "grind" - world quests give several hundred per quest, and treasures and rares you find while questing (plus some major questline quests) normally give a few, too, enough to develop a fair stock on the way up, while the world quests are a very fast way to restock. If you *only* want to dungeon, some WQs are in dungeons, too! I'm constantly sitting on 20k plus of the things, even with spending 10k on research the other day I can't spend them faster than I gather them at present; granted I do a lot of world quests but I don't specifically target the order resource ones; I actually tend to aim for the gear and artifact power ones more and only do resource ones if I'm passing through an areas anyway and fancy some easy rep, so it doesn't seem any hardship to get that. I think it'll only seem a "grind" if you plan to leave characters inactive doing nothing but missions, like with the old garrison. That's not the intent with Legion; *we're* supposed to be the ones playing, not our followers ;-)

I've yet to reach 110, so I shouldn't really give any reviews yet. However, I'm resting my monk and I'm already out of OR, so I can't use the phone app anymore :(

However, I'm resting my monk and I'm already out of OR, >so I can't use the phone app anymore :( Ahh, yeah, that'll happen, my druid's likely to run out if I don't get questing soon as well, since he's not max lvl and hasn't quested all that much. At 110 the resources do seem not much problem as long as you don't mind spending a little time on world quests now and again - you'll most likely want to go for the emissary cache anyway though (4 WQs for a particular faction gives you 1500 rep with that faction, a chunk of artifact power and a chest that contains a random item and gold, order resources or very rare chance at a legendary item), so can just target order resource quests while you're doing it :-) I have to laugh at the randomness of worldquest rewards btw, there's a lot of variety in the quests, kill powerful elites (with other people, it's shared tag though), clear out areas of mobs, do bombing runs, or... remove invading squirrels from a friendly village lol. Guess which one tends to give me the best reward of the day :-) Sometimes i think there should perhaps be a slight limitation on the randomness so the squirrels doesn't give better rewards than killing some really powerful elite but hey, it's all fun anyway!

Haven't had that much time to play, plus was a week late getting it since I got a physical copy thinking there might be stuff on the DVD that'd save hitting on my monthly download limit, so haven't seen all that much yet. Also computer started freezing up more often recently. Unplugged and plugged the graphics card and memory back into their slots and blew a bit of dust around and it seems like it might be a bit better now. So anyway, my priest is 105 and only on his second Zone while my warrior is 101 and part way into her first zone. But that said, I really like that you can start in pretty much any zone you want. I'm a bit concerned that both of my characters professions quests wanted to go to the same zone (and not the ones I'd already chosen to go to) but maybe that was just blind luck with Tailoring and Alchemy matching, and the other professions will point at different zones. I could look that up, but eh, I'll find out when I get around to my other characters anyway. I quite enjoyed the story telling in the Demon Hunter start zone, though did the art style of the cut-scenes match anything done previously or was it completely new? I liked it well enough, though I did feel it might have been different for the sake of being different rather than because it really improved anything. I'm liking the weapons and their talent tree's. Makes me feel even more so that they're slowly heading back towards how WoW was originally, with the talent tree's defining your speck. Give em a few more expansions and we might not *have* specs any longer and will just have the one "spec" that we can mix and match talents to our taste, kinda like diablo 3. I don't think I'd mind that, being able to blend shadow and holy skills to create a "unique" spec that suits my play style. :) Ashen Shugar -- The lions sing and the hills take flight. I think specs are here to stay, as that's how it assigns roles (tank,
heal, dps) for random dungeons, battlegrounds, and LFR.

Jewelcrafting and Alchemy both pointed at the same zone for me (Azsuna) so irritatingly I think it's not so random as it should be. You can use your scouting map to get a flightpath to another zone before finishing the first one btw, you don't *have* to complete one before being able to go to another, but still, it gets annoying when your profession quest goes to a zone you aren't doing. Also alchemy sending me into a dungeon at lvl 102 was a bit annoying, JC at least waited till 110 before throwing dungeon quests at me. >I quite enjoyed the story telling in the Demon Hunter start zone, >though did the art style of the cut-scenes match anything done >previously or was it completely new? I need to do that zone soon; meant to do it before Legion but I messed up and had no empty character slots on the account which was preordered, doh, I'll get to it soon though, really want to see the story there.

You have been in luck. :) Heh, maybe I have then :-) Completing the order hall questchain helped a lot as the 3rd relic slot gave my weapon a big boost, which in turn tipped me over a 5 lvl range in my overall ilvl and increased the ilvl of my rewards accordingly (base ilvl of many WQ rewards tends to increase every time you increase in 5 lvl increments, eg 800, 805, 810 etc). Warforged/titanforged stuff doesn't hurt either, and I know I *have* been lucky on a few of those! Btw remember the order hall set can be upgraded, there's upgrade tokens on the vendor in your order hall - if you've done tons of world quests you can likely afford some resources to spend on the upgrade items. I haven't bothered taking mine to 840 yet due to the cost but 4 pieces at 830 is handy! That 4-piece setbonus is awesome too; I screwed up and went in a wrong building in Suramar, found a strong elite and 3 adds beating on me, figured I should just stand there and die... then realised my health wasn't dropping so much once I got below 35% so maybe I should try and fight - well I killed them fairly easily in the end, slowly but safely, could easily outheal the dmg once the setbonus kicked in :-D

I think it was John Gordon <gor...@panix.com> that wrote something like... >In <57daacd6...@News.Individual.NET> death...@yahoo.com.au (Ashen Shugar) writes: > >> originally, with the talent tree's defining your speck. True, but it used to work without them. It would just be a matter of whether Blizzard thinks people would complain about/at them for someone signing up as a tank in a build that hadn't taken any real tanking skills or whether people would just send death threats to the person that signed up without a satisfactory build. I quite liked how Path of Exile did their talent tree's. While in their case, it was one massive web for all classes, and the class you picked just specified where in it you started from, something similar could work for WoW. Each class would have their own "web", with 2 or more places you could choose to start from, and your spec would be determined by which place or area you chose to start from. But it probably would make it even harder to balance the various classes in any sort of fashion. Anyway, guess we'll see how things have progressed in another 5 years or so. :) Ashen Shugar -- The lions sing and the hills take flight. The moon by day, and the sun by night. Cool, hopefully fairly close then, I simply love that setbonus, have a few higher ilvl items in my bags now but I won't unequip my set for world activities :-)
