I'm considering pre-buying the next expansion. I understand this allows me to boost an existing toon to 90. Can someone point me to a page with the details? Does the existing toon need to be a certain level? What are the requirements to get professions maxed? I have a Holy/Ret Paladin, my main and a Destro/Afflic warlock both at 90 already. I'm not particularly interested in tanking. What kind of toon might provide more balance? I have a lvl 18 rogue, a lvl 61 Warrior, and a lvl 65 Mage. The mage I might level the old-fashioned way, but what about the others? What professions will add balance? The Pally is Herb/Alc, the lock is mining/eng, and the mage is tailoring/Inscription. I think I should add jewelcrafting, but what do others think? pt

If you’re boosting an existing character and want to change professions, just make sure you train the professions you want before you apply the boost. Also, if you’re not quite level 60 yet (but thiiiiiiis close), you might want to consider holding on to your boost token until you earn those last couple of levels—your boost will still be waiting for you when you’re ready." I read that all you need is prof level 1 on a 60 in whatever you want and they will be maxed by the levelup. Level to 60 is easy with xp boosts, even just the guild gear. What character and profs to level? up to you. A proper healer with tailor and inscription? A druid is good for mats gathering, but seems a waste to blow profession levels on that. If you have a blingtron and regularly logon treat it like a daily. Feeding the prof powerups to alts chips away at the upper level profs anyway so profs are easier to level. You could get another warlock or hunter just as a profession holder/banker, just to get the profs and not do much else with. Just because they are just so easy to level for later expansions. I have a few tanks, and hate tanking in wow, not the tanking just the way people interact with tanks.I rejigged the bankers as warlocks just so they all play the same way and can hold professions. There isn't much point in having a melee dps , or one without a personal tank unless it is meant for raids. I would get rid of the warrior except it has sentimental value. You could just blow the levelup to reconfigure profs on a main-main. I -think- that should work but haven't seen if it does. You could start on another server, pvp or pve, and have a max character. I expect there will be other 'free' boosts sometime now that they are in play and you could always just buy a boost to reconfigure. Since they are in the shop now the pre-order purchase boost isn't a premium treasure you can't get any other way, just a bonus.

But you have to manually level your professions after your boost. 2. or slowly level your char to 60 and buy the boost and get your professions leveled too! This boost is also called Veteran Boost. I will always recommend second option as leveling professions is a true pain and much slower than leveling a char from 1 to 90. > I have a Holy/Ret Paladin, my main and a Destro/Afflic warlock > both at 90 already. Shaman (melee, caster or heal) or monk (melee, tank or heal). Both chars are fun playing and VERY easy to level too. The shammy will almost oneshot groups of mobs with chain lightning if you also gear him up with heirlooms. But you can also pick your mage or rogue. The mage is a glasscannon and I will recommend you frost spec due to the survivability. The rogue is quite versatile in most pve enviroments with almost zero selfhealing abilities though. Me rogue is able to kill most mobs on Timeless in just ilvl512 overall gear thanks to this class' stuns and interrupts. So played right you will recieve almost no damage. Btw. Once your rogue hits 60 you get access to a new talent called Cloak and Dagger. You will LOVE this crazy talent! =) > The mage I might level the old-fashioned way, but what about the > others? Either jewelcrafting, tailoring or inscription. JC fits with mining. Tailoring = 28 slot bags, 553 gear and inscription is a gold cow on AH. Inscription is a different prof compared to the other profs as its not really expansion-dependant. Even when you have maxed inscription you stil have a very long way to go as you have to discover and learn new glyphs every day. You can speed up this a bit by doing the daily LK (lich king) discovery and pandaria discovery every day + plus you can buy Glyph of Mastery books from AH. Those books will learn you a new random LK glyph. And if you think it cant get worse you also have to farm specific rares on Timeless if you go for ALL BoE glyph patterns (the new 5.4 BoP glyphs drops everywhere in Pandaria). Glyph of the skeleton pattern (BoE) has a ~1% drop chance from rattleskew on Timeless. And he only spawns once every 1-2 hour. Good luck with farming this dude. :) -- Peter T. <https://elite.frontier.co.uk/>

Thanks! I'll mention that for bankers, engineering gives you access to a bank, mailbox, and AH in the Seven Stars hub, all within a couple steps of each other. pt

If you stand just right and the darn mobile banker is in the right place you can get all 3. Sometime there is a Jeeves popped there, that banker moving can be really annoying. Also the anvil/forge are just around the corner at the blacksmith supply and work even if they don't show on mouseover. Thermal anvils are pretty cheap, I often see one in the engineer pit anyway so have a quick look to see if there is one up. The second AH in stormwind isn't much worse, only a short run between bank , ah and mailbox and near the forge. I usually put the blingtron inside the sw bank. It stops people parking mammoths over it, there is always someone who tries to hide it. We also have bling parties, the most was 8. A bank full of blings with characters in party clothes dancing and bling music seems apt to represent a financial hub somehow. More streamers, more ballons, more fireworks. I know, I need to get a life :-)

Just for information, in WoD they're extending the range of catchup features in professiosn though - you can already skill mining/herbalism in Pandaria from lvl 1 (getting crap that you can convert into useful stuff at a rate of 10-1); that'll extend to the whole game based off what I've seen in datamining. And they've been talking like they plan to do something similar with crafting professions too, no idea how that'll work, but it's about time, some are a total nightmare to level up at present. >> I think I should add jewelcrafting, but what do others think? > >Either jewelcrafting, tailoring or inscription. JC is my favourite profession at present, got it on my main and I'm so glad it worked that way as it's great. Only problem is, in WoD there will be far fewer gem slots, so it'll be a lot less good for gold than it is at present. Hopefully they'll add more useful craftable rings/necks/trinkets and the like - we used to be able to make epic rings/necks back in WotLK but they've gone lately which is a shame, this'd be a good time to add them back imo. (I have no idea how we'll skill JC if nobody wants gems btw, usually you make tons of cheap gems that don't really sell even when everyone does have sockets for them...) >Inscription is a different prof compared to the other profs as its not >really expansion-dependant. Good luck finding those for less than insane money, however ;-) Thankfully, you can now learn those glyphs through research, it used to be they were very very rare, and so also very very expensive... I do like inscription though, it's nice being a really low lvl, researching a recipe and finding, hey, the lvl 90s all want this, I can make money! I took it on a lone character on a random server that I made to get some guild reward pets from joining a random guild that had rewards mine doesn't; of course, I needed money to buy said rewards, and inscription was by far the best way to be able to afford the pets as soon as I hit exalted :-) >And if you think it cant get worse you also have to farm specific rares >on Timeless if you go for ALL BoE glyph patterns (the new 5.4 BoP glyphs >drops everywhere in Pandaria). Good luck with farming this dude. :) Yeah, that'll be a headache for sure, I've been lucky enough to pick up a number of the BoE ones on my main (my scribe is only lvl 85), I'm nottoo sure I'll get that skeleton one anytime soon though. That said, if you're a real completist and want even the useless recipes, JC is worse. Over a year of dailies to get all Cata recipes, with no way to reduce the timescale. I have no idea why they didn't add an equivalent to Wrath's Titanium dust which you could convert to tokens for that era of recipes, it's daft really. I only completed my Cata recipes a couple of months back, on my main, who played (and did dailies) right through Cata...

Depends a lot on what playstyle you like, the mage is probably worth levelling if you enjoyed it enough to reach 65 already. I personally really really enjoy my shaman; elemental is very simple, too simple to some people but suits me well as I can jump in and no need to worry about remembering details/tracking a million buffs/debuffs. I do not find my feral druid enjoyable any more, there are just too many buffs/debuffs to track - if I *have* to install an addon to track important stuff, and can't just manage via the default UI, it's too complex, IMO. Rogue is similar (but less energy starved, so I still find it mostly fun), although the more annoying stuff seems to be reducing for them in WoD, thankfully. Bandit's Guile does my head in though, to the point where I just ignore it, which obviously isn't optimal for dps. I know some people like complexity, but for an alt, that I just want to jump on and have some fun, I don't wish to have to install extra addons, and memorise 500 diffierent abilities and when to use them lol (that said, I think warlock suffers the same problems and you seem to like that class, so you may like these!) Priest is fun to me, but since you have a pally, you may not find it so interesting; I can't get along with shadow so I play solo as Disc, which I imagine most people would find too slow. I love it though as it's got so much selfhealing I can solo anything - so long as the mob doesn't self-heal, then it's a massive nightmare trying to outdps it with no burst dmg (Disc has no interrupts :-( ). I'm levelling my Draenei priest at present, and had a shot at Magtheridon the other day - at lvl 85 I take very little dmg but can't dps down the channelers before they heal, so it was stalemate lol, I'll have to come back in a few lvls!

Good luck with farming this dude. :) Thats like alchemy with their various expansion discoveries. Unless you really want a crafted item that isn't on sale , or for waaay to much, it is usually cheaper in time and gold to just buy rather than develop your own profs and recipes fully. I just got them for the self supporting micro economy within my characters. Mostly I just concentrate on one gather type, mining for me. That supports eng, blackmith, jewelcrafting and alchemy. While there is gold to be made across crafting profs you can generally make just as much, often more, for the time on one primary gather prof and selling the mats. If that is slow a couple of craft profs you know well can soak up excess and smooth over the peaks and troughs. I have a druid skinner/herb to fill the gaps and fill in time, herb in flightform is fast, the goggles add more nodes for pandaland and skinning can pick up quite a lot just from the mob interrupters. I really should have made it herb/mine but leather is a steady income anyway. The eng/miner just skips any panda nodes with mobs or in caves, with the goggles there are plenty of nodes and it isn't even worth the time to kill the mobs. Although sometimes I just clear the map, I find it hard to stop if there is a node showing. Imagine a cute fluffy heavily armoured kitten with pointy teeth and sharp claws playing with a squeaky toy full of catnip. Mmmmm..catnip...I mean ghost iron :-)

Warlock is much simpler than druid , 1,2,3,1,2,3 hmmm..which pretty will I land on it next? number 7 looks nice, ooohh pretty sparklessss. at least you don't find by a misclick or miss macro you have turned into a stag, then a cat, then a bear , wtf? a tree?? and trying to find where the heal and attack buttons got shifted to on this incarnation, and that the macros now hang wtfwtf? a worgen now?. Then there are specs. Is this a cat healer or a dps bear??? On the plus side you rarely die, you just have raging multiple personality disorder and need a long lie down after every conflict to focus.

Some games have tiers mats paths. You can do items you want or combine 3 level 1 doodads into a lvl2, 3 lvl 2 into a lvl3. up to lvl 90 for now. Craft Xp determines what you can create or render down. A boatload of lvl 1s but at lvl 10 you would be getting lvl 10 doodads of sparkley than can be combined to a lvl 11 or broken into -2- lvl 9s. Up/down converts so they can be used for lower levels later at a steady wastage rate.. A parallel tier of 'study' items useful slightly at higher levels and more resellable rather than the useless crafted results that are useful only for de or vendor. Fairly simple to add in , not replace anything and just drop items on gathering nodes. As interesting as levelling fishing and just as simple.

Rofl :-D So very true, I know my bf told me of some issues he had as a druid when he played one as a tank, his keybinds unfortunately were such that if he was one key over to the side, he'd select travel form - he did that midfight while tanking dragons and the like a couple of times before deciding it might be a good idea to change that bind to something less potentially lethal!
