Hey all - Been reading and chatting with many of you over the years, and thought I'd let you know that I cancelled my sub yesterday after non-stop subscription since 10/09. I don't know exactly when it happened, but I started to get "meh" with the game out of nowhere. I think it was soon after finishing the final raid on my main. All of a sudden I think I was feeling like not wanting to do it again. I tried over the next few days to run my healer through, and just got frustrated and bored, esp with the quality of players in LFR, which is what my schedule permitted. Timeless Island really did it for me as well. The rep grind finally got to me on that one, as well as personally I felt like with the instant gearing, nothing was hard, well earned, or felt special anymore. The legendary quest line really irritated me in that they were nerfing it continuously as the ex-pac released patches. For example, why am I busting my ass to get 6K valor, and then you drop it to 3K the day the patch with the next chapter comes out? I found myself doing something I could never before understand how anyone could do, which was stand around in SW waiting 1 hr for a queue...Pet battles?...meh...rep grind some more? nah....Run a scenario? eh - don't feel like it...Go catch up on the "walking dead" episode? Oh yea - forgot about that, and I left queue and logged. I actually was having more fun playing "Skylanders" with my kids. lmao I gave it 4 weeks to see if I felt differently. I sometimes got to the top of the stairs looking down to my office where the PC is and said - "Nah"... I even got as far as sitting at my PC finishing up something else and the WoW icon was staring at me...I stared back. I just didn't feel like it. The drive up and went cold turkey on me, seemingly out of nowhere. So after 3 weeks, 4 days of not logging , I logged yesterday to grab the expired AH items out of the mailbox, ironically go the anniversary achieve, then logged. Went to Battle.net and answered their questions, and cancelled... Ironically, my birthday was 2 weeks ago and my mother gave me.......a 60 day card. lmao. Didn't have the heart to tell her I was thinking of quitting. I also figured I'd hold onto it in case I decided to return....maybe after I hear some good things a few months after the release on the next ex-pac next year.... Anyway, as for now, I thank you all for any help I may have gotten over the years, and it was an honor if I helped anyone in return. I will still drop in from time to time to see if anything is going on.... But right now, it's time to enjoy the holidays with the family... :) Hope you have fun and thanks again!

Understandable, I reckon everyone hits those patches; I did myself recently, only been logging in a couple of days a week really, sometimes a break is a good thing to recharge the batteries :-) I spent too much time grinding Timeless Isle, got sick of it and lost interest in the rest... now when I login I remind myself to do other stuff that I enjoy, but I'm not playing as much as I used to. Not to worry, plenty time till WoD so there's no rush anyway, may as well spend some time outside WoW, although I'll keep the sub running as I do still play a reasonable amount. >Ironically, my birthday was 2 weeks ago and my mother gave me.......a 60 >day card. lmao. You may well find your interest again in a bit - have a look at the likes of MMO Champion occasionally after the beta comes out, might inspire you again. My bf gets bored and quits all the time, then something new gets announced and he'll resub for a bit, new stuff is a good way to rejuvenate interest. (Like I'm playing D3 again since the expansion got announced lol, turns out the changes have made it tons more playable since I was playing when it was new, didn't even know till I tried again :-)) >Anyway, as for now, I thank you all for any help I may have gotten over >the years, and it was an honor if I helped anyone in return. I've always enjoyed talking with you, so I hope you'll be back in WoW someday, failing that, do please drop in and say hello like Urbin does from time to time :-)

Thanks and you too. :) Btw. My last serious AFK from the game was the whole cata exp. It was a wonderful real-life time. But I returned 1 week before Panda and I wasnt even aware of the Panda expansion at all! I just wanted to say hi to the guildies I left 2 years before when patch 4 was released. Anyway! I still remember the night around midnight I was online when Panda World went live. Everybody on /trade were talking about something new and I had to ask a guildie. "Errhh... What is happening? Wut da fuk are ppl babbling about? ^^". they ignored me. Asked a few more times and finally got an answer; "New expansion". "What expansion?" I asked. 10 mins later I was downloading my digital copy. My WoW-life got new life. :) and dont forgot to log around november next year. I bet Blizzard has a neat surprise at their 10 years anniversary. ;) -- Peter T. <https://elite.frontier.co.uk/>

I tried over the next few days to run my healer >through, and just got frustrated and bored, esp with the quality of >players in LFR, which is what my schedule permitted. I think the start of it for me was actually when the dungeon finder tool started working "properly" during WotLK and people could just queue up for it to easily get into runs. That and how it made it so you could then just keep running random heroics all day long without any concern about being "locked" to any particular one. One of the main reasons I'd leveled every possible tank/healer class to max level was the idea that I'd be more likely to have a tank or healer I could take to any particular heroic if a guildy needed one. While this was a great thing for people who perhaps didn't have many friends that played WoW, or could only play at times there were many others around, it did remove a sliver of sociability from the game. And not that I every tried it much, but when the LFR came along as well, it took another bit of a sliver away. At least for me. By itself, I probably would have kept playing, but when real life meant I only had a 48 hour period of time per week I could play, and during that period was also when I went out playing board games with a bunch of friends I just lost the motivation to keep playing. It was also during the start of MoP and solo questing wasn't really doing much for me and running random instances over and over again with strangers also wasn't that enticing an idea (not until I'd have a few drinks at least). Before MoP I'd been getting into the Tol Barad fight and that was pretty good since you'd tend to see fairly regular names and you'd develop a bit of community feeling but with MoP and everyone else getting to 90 before I did, it kinda fizzled out for me. I keep reading here though and some of the things make me feel like starting to play again, but until I can make it regularly rather than just a couple of times a week, it doesn't seem worth the cost. Hey, it's been good having you around. I've now been WoW-less for more than two years. I miss it much less than I had feared, though I still fonldy remember the long and good times. The longer I am away, the less I think I'll be back at the next expansion (I did come back for a month for Panda) as the gap is just getting bigger. I wish you all the best with whatever you'll do instead and maybe we'll occasionally get a sign of life from you here :-) Cheers Urbin -- Dun Morogh-EU (PvE) | Tunyatgong (12), Monk | Juran (65), Druid Urbin (90), Hunter | Surana (75), Mage | Greeta (65), Rogue Mymule (85), Warlock | Kordosch (75), Deathknight | Gera (26), Paladin Sunh (81), Priest | Taalas (85), Shaman | Vargal (42), Warrior

I finally got around to doing my first raids at level through LFR on my main (mainly for the legendary quest line) and find that interesting and not excessive drama. The conmpletionist in me still has plenty to do with quests and achievements and pets but there is a grind aspect to Timeless Isle and the dailies I do. I would probably do more PVP battlegrounds if my faction were more competitive. I have been away for multiple months a couple times due to being too busy or the budget being tight enough I had a hard time justifying the $15/month. I missed it but also had no problem filling my free time with other enjoyable activities. I don't expect to quit anytime soon but can easily see why people do. Brian

Hehe, I didn't quit because I didn't get my money's worth. I quit because I got too much out of it (i.e. I spent too much time in WoW instead of in RL with my wife and kids). I'm enough of a completionist that I could have occupied myself for quite some time, yet :-) Cheers Urbin -- Dun Morogh-EU (PvE) | Tunyatgong (12), Monk | Juran (65), Druid Urbin (90), Hunter | Surana (75), Mage | Greeta (65), Rogue Mymule (85), Warlock | Kordosch (75), Deathknight | Gera (26), Paladin Sunh (81), Priest | Taalas (85), Shaman | Vargal (42), Warrior

So wait up to an hour for mob to spawn, then enjoy your 1% droprate! I'm mainly aiming for the pets on the bottom of the list... patch has been out, what, 2 months plus? I still miss 5 of them, and another one I got on an alt, not my main so didn't count for the achievement (not making it accountwide made an evil achievement even worse!). I think this one's the ultimate for completionists, but wow, I'm not too sure I'll ever actually get it, at present I've got maybe 1/3 of the drops. I'd *like* to aim for it but I'm not sure I have the persistence, it feels even worse than Insane in the Membrane :-) I'd also suggest, don't look at collecting minipets, as that is little/no better if you get completist about it (warcraftpets.com is a wonderful site but I keep on looking at my "score" and thinking "only 37th on my server? And I thought I was quite a serious collector.... must hunt some more!") I love this game for the completism side, but if you are a completist, it is indeed wise to avoid getting too sucked in unless you can afford the time spent ;-) I very much understand why you felt you needed to quit; had I had a family and commitments a few years back I'd have had the same problem I think - as it is, I'm a little less bad than I used to be, I think, but can still easily lose a ton of time working on something or other :-)

Got to get the SOR and there is a large discount on xpacs until new year. It isn't the $15 a month, $1500 a month easy on the daily stuff just once paid I feel like I just HAVE to use it. Playing on trials to test graphics I wondered why I had the same old problem. A virtual world, a throwaway account, nothing important here waaaaay too stressful, way too much responsibility, practically palpitations after a session. I am *fine in actually physical stress when you can do something even if it is run away but in games there is nothing to DO but mash buttons faster. And they get harder to mash the right ones as you keeping being unable to DO anything. * that is just slightly better than others in the whole unexpected runaboutscreamandshoot pandemonium I just like the AH , gathering and roaming around. I could really get into the completionist stuff, so I try not to let it happen :-) I think maybe what happens is you do stuff, you know you did stuff, there is a bit of a rush but it doesn't FEEL like you did anything to go along with it. You didn't just burn up 1,000 Calories lugging gear up a hill, so you do more, and more. And then once you are depleted enough you stop for a while, and don't feel like climbing that hill. You just did a LOT of stuff after all, you deserve a liedown and a cup of tea :-)

Perhaps I'll miss it later and I'll return, but honestly I cannot imagine it happening soon. For all the reasons you wrote and because both my guilds are more or less gone. Perhaps cya the next expansion SF
