Yep. That got changed because people whined that it was "compulsory" to do the dailies to gear up, and Blizz overreacted to it. What the *actual* problem was, was when valor gear was gated behind rep: all they had to do was to revert to the model which worked fine in TBC, Wrath and Cata, where valor/justice gear was on a non-rep vendor, and the factions had actually useful stuff too - good items, recipes, ok I can go with them removing the head enchants from rep (I liked it but can understand others didn't). But basically it meant the dailies led to nice gear for us who weren't serious raiders, while not being that important to those who were, as they got decent gear through valor anyway, which we got far more slowly. I thought that system worked well... >We'd run the Tempest keep instances over and over to the point where >they were not challenging because we knew exactly what we were doing. >But if we didn't pay attention, we'd still die. > >Again, we did that for the JP pogs to buy actually useful gear. > >Grinding for something that helps you has never been my problem, but >grinding for a random drop or for a vanity item? No thanks. Yep. While I'm no fan of grinding dungeons, once they got to the point where dailies gave you points too (limited!), it suited me just fine. I love working towards meaningful rewards; even as a pet/mount collector I find it a whole lot harder to motivate myself for monster grinds for those. >(I did grind the rep for the Wintersabre mount, but at the time there >was not much to do in the game and I figured out exactly what I had to >do to get the mount in 3 weeks, but in general I don't do that). > >Right now, I don't think there is any piece of gear worth grinding for. >You either need whole sets, or else there are 20 items that are nearly >identical and since you really don't know if Mastery is better than Dex >(or whatever the stat-o-the-day is) ... Yeah, the Apexis gear was rubbish anyway, Tanaan changed things a bit, you get tokens like the Timeless Isle ones, totally utterly random what stats you get, but at least with this one, you use the upgrade to higher llvl item (equivalent to Burden of Eternity) on the item after it's made, so you see the stats before wasting the upgrade. So better than it was, but still, not much is actually worth grinding for, at least I can work on pets and mounts... *sigh*.
