That only works when people want everything now, which is nearly
everyone it seems.

When I had a skill to level I bought the mats ahead of time when low, if
there was a gap usually it just waited. Or I played the market on that
choke point having found it.
There is always something else to do, usually way too much to do so do
the fun stuff.

I don't usually gouge, usually I work on quantity at a price that
should sell from the warehouse. I put ti up and really hope never to see
that stack again. Even if they are all clones :-)

The other day someone was complaining a mat was 1k a stack. I pointed
out they could make a potential skillup for 5g with a cheap mat, 15-20g
a point at fresh green, less with vendor/de the result.
But they wanted something they imagined they could sell, in competition
with everyone else who made it with expensive mats.
So the problem wasn't the mat price but they imagined they were losing
virtual profit from the market they hoped to gouge :-)

Of course few people do the market, which is good for me. If everyone
was selling it means they have something to sell, which means there
would be nobody to sell to.
Our AH usually has around 30k objects I have maybe 500 up, about half
would be single gems etc, the rest would be 20 stacks. Rule of thumb I
don't do much below 10g, either stack or single, not for 2g potential
profita click.
About 2000 , rough guess, would be transmog pieces. The rest is
people putting 20 stacks up when only 3 or 4 would sell in 48 hours.
They drive each others prices down, and still put a lot up at the lower
prices. If anything the lower the price the more they dump.

So there aren't that many actually stockpiling and reselling.

I do quite a nice trade in seeing my 2-5 small stacks sell, lower
deposit = longer time, then asking if they want any more at 10% off for
a full stack. Saves work all round and often they will ask for other
stuff if levelling.

The thing that really ticks me off is the 1 copper undercut. Something
gouging at 50g, someone drops to 30g, they are the one setting the
price. The undercut would have been happy at the higher price and tells
me nothing about a stable point. The good thing is they will usually
follow you all the way down in an hour with large stacks against
1-stacks then just unzip the stack to whatever you want.

Given a choice I always take the higher price first. The price setter
shouldn't lose out their deposit, I see it as they gave me information.
The 1 copper just caused a fog.
