Since TBC when the gems first appeared they are broken and the broken part
is that you don't really have much of a choice if you want to gem your
character right.

For example 40 intellect gem gives to my mage 46 dps and that can further be
increased by BOK/MOTW while a 40 crit gem gives 19 dps and that number isn't
affected by any buffs. This makes it that in every socket you put intellect
gems for the best effect unless the socket bonus is so good that you put
intellect + something else.

This problem is present in most classes, making different gemming not really
a choice if you want to do well...
To fix this problem they should increase the values of other gems to make it
that more or less you get same dps boost from every gem.
For example red = 40 int, yellow = 100 crit rating or 80 haste and so on...

As it is now most classes specially dps use 1 type of gems in most sockets
and it sucks that you cant make a choice based on preference to be
competitive (warriors, DK, pala ret = +str, hunter, rogue, shaman enh =
+agility)

I wonder why is blizzard insisting with the same gem rules for 3 expansions
now...
