I use my Macbook for WoW out at my parents. Mostly just the
occasional daily quest, archaeology, skilling up professions, some
solo questing, though it's run things well enough for tanking/healing
back during Wrath. I do believe I have the graphic settings down
almost as low as they'll go, but it keeps a playable framerate. Main
issue for running instances on it is that I usually use a gaming
keyboard with a funky layout, so on the laptop I tend to have to look
for the key for some abilities, which slows my reactions down.

Anyway, it's got an Intel Core 2 Duo, 2Ghz
NVidia Geforce 9400M with 256MB
2 GB of DDR2 SDRAM at 667 Mhz

So I'd guess anything around that level would be a good place for you
to start looking, then go up while the money holds out. ; )
