I don't have a 3-d card but do have a P200 w/ MMX. Does the MMX help at all? I know it won't do as much as if I had a 3-D card.

MMX was never a really hugh step up from an average cpu. If you need a cheap bump up: the m3d card from matrox is great. Its like 50 bucks at best buy. It runs along side your normal card (works with any vid card) And you can run unreal in powerVR mode. It adds 4megs to your vid ram if anything. No mess involved just plug card into open pci..load drivers and GO. Im running a matrox 220 and a m3d card together (combined 8megs) and the game runs acceptably well (not as fast as a 400meg voodoo IIICCVXX card or whatever) but heys its only 50 bucks!!!

I know it won't do as much as if I had a 3-D card. I think the MMX code is limited to the sound effects. i.e. the reason you might get a couple extra fps is that MMX is helping the advanced sound processing (reverb etc). I have a MMX chip, and get more fps if I turn off the fancy sound effects, but I don't think it is worth it. I like how your shots and sounds sound different depending where you are. Just my opinion, Mike

Well MMX helps but I'd still suggest you to get 3dfx... > I don't have a 3-d card but do have a P200 w/ MMX. Does the MMX help at > all? I know it won't do as much as if I had a 3-D card. > >
