Unreal crash at 1st launch

My system:
Pentium 233mmx
64 Mb EDO Ram
4.3 Gb Harddrive ultra dma 33
Diamond Edge 4Mb video card
Diamond Monster 3D2 Voodoo2 8Mb card
Guillemot/ubisoft maxisound gametheater 64 soundcard

I have now tried to install Unreal several times (bothwith and without
Directx5, of which I already had a version, running with Quake2, for
instance).
Every time I go to launch for the first time, the log comes onscreen and
appears to be loading the game. I get asked whether I have a 3DFX card, and
I get told that Voodoo Rush doesnt work.
Then, as the game is about to start, I see, for a split second, an attempt
to open a window and then the screen goes black and NOTHING further happens.
In fact, none of the keys work (escape, windows, etc) and I have to
ctl+alt+del to close the game and usually I have to reboot to regain
control of my system.

I have many 3DFX-accelerated games (Quake1 and 2, Hexen2, Jedi Knight,
Mysteries of the Sith, Turok, etc) and all worked fine in 800x600
full-screen, 3DFX accelerated mode.

Now, when I want to start Quake2, I get the following message:
_GlideInit Environment: glide2x.dll expected Voodoo^2, none detected

when I click on OK, I get:

grSstSelect: non-existent SST

Would you have any idea whats going on here and how I get my computer back?
Im just about ready to give the Unreal CD away, as long as I can keep
Quake2 working properly
Now, nothing related to the Voodoo card works, even the Diamond mini-icon in
my taskbar, which brings up the display properties, generates the above
error-message
I have removed and re-installed the card, with the latest drivers (the
Monster ones ).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Patrick
