When you have the right talisman in place, a piece of the gate opens, so
obviously fog is correct.  You need to look at the symbol above each holder
and then find the two books in each section (8 books altogether) that tell
you what the symbols mean and give you a sequence for each element.  You
need to find the symbol above the holder in the book, find out what it
represents, then check the second book to see what it turns into.  That is
the talisman that you need to take back to the Talisman holder room.
