Hi - I'm divorced now, and I have been for awhile.

So I guess it is time to come out of the closet.

Sandra (X-wife) is moving to a different state to marry her internet
boyfriend. I will follow to stay close to my daughter.

Okay when I got this news, the first thing that I did was open up MSN and
scream from the top of my MSN lungs "OMG, WHAT THE F**K HAPPENED?!" and you
know what?

Sandra was on your MSN. Well, I did not say anything to her on the divorce
things cause I do not want to complicate matters.

Something I struggle to believe, but it does explain the poem (although
I could see you writing that anyway). It does re-enforce my resolve to
make sure I get it right (when I decide to grab a ball and chain).

Ah well, like Thomas Edison said when a light filament didn't work,
"that experiment was not a failure, it was a success in knowing that was
not the one"

Still Single and suffering from lack of income

PS. I did think of getting on MSN to confirm what I'd just read, but
then looking at the NZ time (9pm) and knowing that the US would be
beyond midnight, I thought I'd better let the poor lad get to sleep
(just as I should be doing).

I doubt you would have complicated anything. I think she knew what you
were talking about.

Sorry - I had already gone to bed, and she had confiscated my computer to
video conference since her laptop is dead.

Still kinda funny though.

The poem? I sincerely don't remember what you are talking about. (Although
I do vaguely seem to recall writing a poem and then people telling me it
didn't make sense because I was married or something.)

LOL - I did get married quite young, and Sandra would have left me sooner
had we not had a kid - so I suppose your resolve is well founded. But we
are both quite reasonable people, and I intend on remaining her friend. I
don't regret my decision to get married to her. I share in the blame of the
downfall of our relationship.

Even if that is what I he said precisely, I prefer the translation, after he
had tried X times, "I have not failed at making a lightbulb, I have simply
found X ways not to make a light bulb"

Not to be mean, but I'd be kind of - no, strike that, quite offended
if I'd be married and my wife would run off with... an "Internet
Boyfriend". Well, I gather that's just the cream of the crop, but

You wouldn't know, because you're way too ugly to ever

It wasn't quite like that. Sandra was sick of me and needed a way out.
She happened to meet someone that she liked, and that opened the door that
she had been looking for.

I'm hoping that she finds true happiness yet.

In other words, you're saying that Luc should bash that guy up and still be

Fair enough. I'm quite glad you mentioned about still remaining as
friends - A kids father is just as important as their mother (and it
sure helps that a kids parents are on talking terms, if not loving each
other).

As a side note, I should be more qualified to talk on this matter after
I help out with the production side of a parenting seminar this weekend
(A girlfriend is still a few weeks (minimum) away, and I plain to know
her for at least 18 months before we get engaged (kids are a few years
after marriage)).

person.

>Sandra's friend?

Har, no.
It's just that "internet boy/girlfriends" and long-distance
relationships are for most of the part a doomed and venture and people
usually engaging in such... well, it's a certain breed for most of the
part. Call it having both heard and seen too many such stories and
perhaps even some personal experience from good'ol teenage years, but
it's become a rather red flag for me :p

Personally I'm of the opinion that you can not get to know someone for
real through just the interweb/phone and perhaps even meeting a few
times. It takes time and more over, real face to face social
interaction. And no, this is not only because some people like to wear
masks while on the interwebs

But I guess that's moot now that she's actually moving to the guy, so
only thing left to see is how well interweb personalities mingle in
real life once the reality of day-to-day life hits - sometimes it can
be rather ugly.

That's not to say it can't be successful - I have a friend who met her
boyfriend through an internet chat for a radio channel (harharhar) and
she lived 500 km from the guy at that time. Chatted/phoned a lot, met
a few times, and then finally moved here after half a year or so (to
her own apartment, though) of initial contact, and they've been
together ever since... ~5 years and counting, And engaged for 2 of
those. Of course she'd had to move out of the boonies anyway at some
point sooner or later in order to study, so I guess it was despite all
the logical choice to make.
Happy end for sure, but in my experience stories like that are way
more the exception than the rule.
