Happy Anzac Day - whatever the fuck that is! I think it's a holiday for people who take anti-depressants. You know - I am just posting this message because NO ONE IS POSTING ANYTHING. STEPHIE stop being sick right now and post something. You . . . other people, post something too! It's like we had a momentary conversation explosion that leveled the chat field. -- LTP :)

Once upon a time there there were two countries on opposite sides of the Tasman Sea. These countries were at war, but not with each other. New Zealand and Australia were working together in order to help shoot Turkish people, as was the done thing at the time. The ANZACs, or Australian and New Zealand Army Corps were to be dropped on a Turkish beach at Gallipoli but thanks to British incompetence found themselves dropped off under a cliff right under Turkish defenses. ANZAC day is basically a memorial service for the lives lost and serves as a reminder why old people hate the British.

You may wish to rent "Gallipoli" and your friendly local neighborhood
video store. Tough to watch if you care about people getting chopped to
shreds because of incompetent war planning. Though as I think about it,
I'm reminded of another hair-brained, poorly planned military adventure
currently underway.
You may also want to search "Gallipoli" in Wikipedia for a quick and
dirty approach if you can't tolerate sitting still long enough to watch
the movie.
You may also want to read Kipling's "The Light that Failed" as a
Colonial-Romantic view of Great Britain's efforts in that geo-political
arena ("There's always war in the Balkans" I believe one character says).
