Quake 3 on Linux. Invalid .pk3 files in multiplayer mode.

I copied the pk3 files from my Quake 3 cd, then ran the 1.32b-3 file
from idsoftware's ftp server. Almost always I will get kicked for
invalid .pk3 files when entering multiplayer servers. I had my
original .pk3 files with read/write permissions, so permissions
shouldn't have been a problem.

Any help? Thanks.
