protocol and cd key error messages at connect

I am getting "server uses protocol 66" or "server uses protocol 43" 
messages when I try to connect to many different servers. I am trying to 
connect from all seeing eye. I also get invalid cd key fairly often, 
even though I have a legit retail cd that I used to install.

help me out here peeps
