Hi Quakers, A bit off the subject here, but I think this is a good group to ask. I'm using Outlook Express to read news groups, and it sucks scrogg water. It's horrible at stiching binaries together, and just doesn't do a reliable job of fetching messages. My copy of Forte Agent was made for windows 3.x and doesn't work anymore. What are you folks using? Best, Tom

I have never once had a problem putting binaries together. And as far as retrieving messages, I would attribute that to your isp news server, not the reader. I ain't trying to stop you from trying other readers, just commenting on your post is all. forte agent seems to be one of the more popular ones that people are using though. I would suggest looking for an updated version as Bill suggested. -- Margolis http://web.archive.org/web/20030215212142/http://www.agqx.org/faqs/AGQ2FAQ.htm http://www.unrealtower.org/faq

It looks and feels like the old version that I was used to. I love that it assembles multiparts on the fly. No more moving the bits around into the right order. Best, Tom

I think its great. And its free! There is a forum on the site too. There are a lot of settings you have to check and tweak to get it to work best. I have a copy of forte that I use for text sometimes. Right now Im using OE for this post. However I dont like OE at all for binaries. I got a key for forte in the howard stern binaires group. People post them there all the time. :) David
