The next incarnationg of AGP will be a lot better. P2-300 might be overkill, since you're still running on a 66MHz system bus. Get a P2-233 or 266MHz and save some money and wait until a 100MHz bus becomes a standard. You probably only see the difference in benchmarks anyways... >64 megs of SDRAM Good... >Monster 3dfx video card Good... >Diamond Stealth PCI video card with 8mb video ram Well, i'd get a Diamond Viper 330, but thats just me. Its a lot better in D3D than the 3Dfx and has killer 2d. Based on the Riva128 chipset. >6.1 Gig HD What kind? They may not be great, but they are better than the current crop of 33.6 modem. However, I'd wait until the FCA regulates a standard between 56k technology, if they ever will that is... >I've calculated this with tax to be approximately $4,077.15. > >What I would like to know, is this a good deal? If you have an EIDE and a SCSI in the same system the EIDE will override anything and become the C: But i wouldn't use SCSI. Ultra ATA 33 (an EIDE spec) is suppose to increase performance a lot, but make sure your hard drive supports it and your motherboard. > >There are only two ISA slots, but thankfully one of the sound cards is >PCI...do I want something with more ISA slots??? Joystick ports on soundcards (most anyways) are crap. >As for the game I will want to play???? > >GL Quake, if there will be a GL Quake 2 so be it. >NASCAR 2 in full 3d, yes I know there isn't a 3dfx patch yet. >Perhaps UO if isn't too costly. > >Thanks I don't know about $4000.00 for this system. Look at all of the components in a Computer Shopper and see what it would cost for each individual component.
