I think you mean TFT monitors. LCD is liquid crystal display, not used since
the older 486 laptops.
TFT is thin film transister used in almost all laptop and thin monitors.

What you need to check for is response times.
Usually they give you two times such as
  response time - tr: 12ms + tf: 4ms
Add these two together and if they are higher then 25ms or doesn't say don't
buy it.
The lower the number the better. This is the time it takes for the
transisters in the monitor to change /light up and to go out; blocking the
backlight.

To play something like Quake you can get away with a 25ms monitor, the
faster gamer such as Q3/UT2K3 will require a much faster response time
(lower number). If not you'll notice the last few frames of the
animation/screen getting drawn and you'll see something that is refered to
as 'shadowing'

You'll also want to make sure the monitor has good contrast ratios. This is
how well it can block the backlight in the montor, if you have poor a
contrast ratio you may find that the white isn't all that bright or the
black isn't that black. ie.
 contrast ratio 400:1

The smaller TFT monitors are better for gaming then the bigger ones for the
two reasons above. Also, remember that most CRT screens not measured by the
visible dimentions but by the glass or in some cases by the actuall monitor
casing too. TFT are not like that. What you see as a labled a 15" is what
you will get. TFT get measured from corner to corner of the visible screen
that can be used, unlike CRTs. This means some of the 15" TFT monitors can
be very close in actuall size to the 17" CRT monitors.
