I dunno exactly what it's called in the English XP, but my XP PRO (Swedish) has something called a "compatibility mode", try that! Right-Click the program file, select compatibility and check the box. select windows 95, and you should be fine... i think.... haven't tried it m'self.... Good luck! No, I tried it with once redguard (the older scrolls adventures) and it didn't work there as well. Many old games won't run because of sound issues. I don't know if it will work with Quake but you can try VDMSound. It is a great utililty that emulates a sound blaster compatible dos card and then pipes it out whatever sound card you actually have. It was designed specially for NT, 2000 and XP and has worked wonderfully on a lot of old games I have. Do a search on google and it should come right up. or you could try to push F8 when your computer is booting up, to get the "debug menu" and go into full-out dos mode from there, and start quake.... could it work? Assuming you still have Quake installed on your old computer, and it has a CD burner, burn a CD of the Quake folder. Then just copy to your XP system, saves all your config files, gl files, mods, etc, etc. It's all self contained in the game folder. Works for Q2 also. --- Bob http://www.bullseyecrosshairs.com "Zak" <shar...@deleteme.ntlworld.com> wrote in message news:3KXpa.510$ZS4.12209@newsfep4-glfd.server.ntli.net... > Hi All, > > Im trying to revive a very old and very bad quake habit, but on a machine > running XP.
