Here's the key config I use.
E - forward
D - back
F - strafe right
S - strafe left
mouse1 - fire
mouse2 - alt fire
mouse3 - reload
G - flashlight
T - Spraypaint
A - use
C - crouch
Mouselook is always on
I have used pretty much the same config since Quake 1 for the keys and mouse.
I use the mouse for turning and looking around because the keyboard is too
slow and inaccurate.
With the keys that I use for movement, I have less problems if I accidentally
move my hand from the keyboard because these are the left hand "home row" keys
for us touch typists, and I can easily find them again on almost any keyboard
because the "F" key is usually identified easily by touch.
