More interesting is changing the materials. Gallium arsenide and
silicon has a much shorter switching time. Other exotic materials are
also on the fringes right now including changing the entire medium to
either optical computing or even in quantum dot configurations. In any
case superconductors are going to be a great help as swiotching time
is imporatnt to great of not the heat due to resistance. (I can't wait
to see a home computer with a water cooling system. :) )
Enjoy.
