I just gone done playing a few hours of a new game called Descent by Interplay. The guys at Interplay seem to have their act together: Descent is amazing! It has true 3-D, excellent gameplay, and many options for multiplayer action. I can't truly compare it to DOOM, because you control a spaceship and blow up other spacecraft, but the realism behind it impressed me. If you haven't already tried it, get the shareware from wuarchive. It's two 1.4MB files - well worth it!
