I am very intrigued by the possibility of using Quake as a browser over the internet. For example, we all know you can use Mosaic/Netscape to use the WWW. What about using Quake? In WWW all you do is put .html files in your directory, so with Quake (or Doom for that matter) you would use .wad. The code would need to be altered so you could see gifs on the walls, and maybe click on things to download them from the Quake world to your directory. (it would be like a software shopping mall, just walk around and when you see something you want, click it). You could also walk through doors that would lead to other .wads on the internet set up on other servers. I don't know if multiplayer virtual worlds could be made, but it would be cool if it was possible. I think phone lines and modems are too slow right now for multiplayers. You could put, say, Darkforces up for people but they would have to defeat several demons before they could get the program. Or they would have to solve a puzzle in order to get, shall we say... PICTURES. This could be a lot of fun.
