Does anyone know if it is at all possible to have all of your newsgroup
archives in which you have ever posted removed and erased from
existence?

Anyway, hello to all in newsgroup alt.games.mk! I have noticed people
often making mention of MK2 and how they wished that the mortal kombat
games of today was much like the classic.
What I can't figure out is why people never say anything negative
about MK2?
There are allot of things that I can't stand about MK2.

For example:
When you fight against the computer opponents, have you noticed that
allot of your moves get blocked or ducked? Everytime you shoot a fire
ball, or throw ice, or throw a spear, or a hat, or an electric bolt, or
whatever, the computer never let's you do what you want to do unless
they jump back, or they are in the air or something.
Maybe it is just me, but MK2 is just to slow for me. No running, no
killer combos. Well, even if you could do a combo, the computer wouldn't
let you get it in because everytime you sweep, they roundhouse,
everytime you kick, they sweep. I guess it would be o.k. against another
player, but face it, the computer opponents suck!

On MK 3, I have heard allot of negative comments about the run button.
Well take moves like Sheeva's stomp. If I was fighting against Sheeva, I
can actual run out from under her just before she stomps on me and nail
her with a nasty combo. Now if that had been MK2, you just as well get
ready to get stomped, unless you have a character that can teleport out
of that one.
I still think that the run button could be a good thing at times though,
because not all characters can teleport.
I guess people just like the way the characters looked in MK 2. I must
admit that they are very original, and just that........very classical
to say the least.

I like MK Trilogy for the N64 better than MK 4. Strange huh?

Well, thanks to all for allowing me to post this message.
Yours Truly,
Marty Forsythe

dude, u cant base a fighting game sucking on hard computer AI. I find
MK2 easy, it was a bitch at first, but....practice. KI has some bitch
AI, but i would never say it sucks because of that.

slow? now it mite seem slow, years after they have had a run button.
But then, nobody said it was slow at all. combos? have u ever played
the game, if you are good, there are lots of sweet combos dude.

fuck the playing the computer, its lame for fighting games, play a
friend, thats where all the fun is....

I cant find anything negative about MK2, of course its been outdated,
but for its time, it kicked so much ass. If you are a SF fan, MK2 =
SSF2T, those games can do no wrong according to the fans...

the computer might be hard at first but once you learn the game shits not that
hard...besides, why dont you play against your friends, that what fighters are
made for

the run was unnecessary, aside from the move you mentioned there were very few
moves that it was the only defense against... and thats just poor play design
by boon and tobias. the run jst felt out of place and the characters looked
way too fuckin goofy when they ran

not really, i like mkt better than mk4 also. mk4 was too half-assed, what with
the sidestepping and all. that game just seemed forced.

My opinion it goes MK2, MK1, MK4, MK3 & UMK3 together...

The best thing about UMK3 was finishing it a certain way and watching
it go for 10 minutes while everyone did everything... All the Fats.,
etc...

The AI in all of the MK's were pretty poor. Beating the AI usually came
down to "tricking" it somehow into doing the same thing.

There are plenty of combo's in MK2. They just aren't dial-a-combo's like
MK3, KI, etc. Corner juggles get up to 6 or 7 hits in mk2.

That is why something like sheeva's stomp wasn't in mk2. The run button was
yellow for a reason, it was the CHEESE button.

MK2 was more of a tactical game. You had to work on your positioning and it
took a lot more skill to pull of combos IMO.

MK always goes like this to me....MK2 was the best, followed by MK1. The
others lag far behind in this order...MK4, MK3, UMK3

It's not you.

On the forums, I keep hearing kids asking if there's going to be an arcade
version of MK:DA, and/or saying they should make a version for arcades. The
question then becomes, "WHAT arcades?" I know of at least two arcades in my
area (one fairly heavily frequented) that have closed in the past year. I'd
be surprised if others haven't followed suit. The high price per game these
days ($.75 a game? Yikes!) along with a dwindling selection of games and
consoles which are beginning to rival the power of the dedicated arcade
machines have all contributed to the decline of the arcade industry.
There's a REASON Midway left the arcade business a year or more ago...

Just my $.02...
