Play new Characters on MKII!!!!!

A phenomenon that has begun to irritate me is that so many people seem to be unwilling to play with new characters on MKII. When I go into an arcade, I see Scorpion, Sub Zero and Liu Kang all the time. Even when I get on the machine and pick one of the new fighters, my opponent, who's ego is apparently too fragile to undergo a period of learning, picks Liu Kang and kicks the shit out of me. Do I have to play Raiden to get any playing time on these machines? I'd rather not. I can do that on the old machine.

You have four possible solutions:
1) Play Mileena, and out-cheese them. :) That teleport kick is dangerous
the first few times you use it. Afterwards, people catch on quickly and
tend to use block more often. This would be a short-term solution at best.
2) Play Raiden, and out-cheese them. At least you would get play time on
the new machine. The hand press during a jumping move is dangerous.
3) Don't play the new machine at all. Ok, that's not a solution.
4) Get the moves list, print it, and demonstrate the cool moves of some of
the new characters (Reptile invisibility, Baraka slice-n-dice, etc).
If you're lucky, they may get interested in trying some of the new
characters.
Personally, I use option 1, followed by option 4. As a consequence, nearly
everyone at our arcade can do most moves. Sheesh, the attendant gives out
a move list to everyone who buys $10 of tokens. It's not nearly as good as
the FAQ, and is not as up-to-date as the net.wisdom.
ObMKIIGripe: We have 1.0 ROMs in our MKII machine. The computer opponent
pulls off FAR too many throwing moves, ALL IN A ROW! No block,
no counter. Only solution I've found is to not get thrown. :)
ObMKIIGripe2: Liu Kang with the upper/lower firebolts, and Johnny Cage with
the upper/lower balls makes the game very unbalanced. Granted,
it's only 1.0 ROMs, but I expect there's plenty of tuning yet
to be done. Liu Kang and Johnny Cage are overwhelming as is.
ObMKIIQuery: Is it just me, or are most of the "Sonya" moves somewhat
duplicated in Kitana? (Air punch, Fan throw)
ObMKIIStrategy: I like using Shang Tsung, then morphing into Mileena or
Kitana. Kitana's Fan Freeze usually solves the Liu Kang
Flying Kick or other character's jumping kick, and Mileena's
Teleport Kick usually solves the projectile-throwing or
jump-kicking problems. Not to mention Shang Tsung's Flaming
Skulls, especially when you mix up how many you throw each
time. Skulls also give you time to morph, and the morph to
the two ninja ladies is quicker than most.
ObMKIIFlameBait: None. Who needs it? Others will take care of that. :)

Why not play Cage?
I laugh when my opponent picks SubZero. Scorpion is good but not overplayed.
I see Cage way too much.
Actually I would like to see some people play a VARIETY. These people who
take Cage and play 'cheap'. They stay back and wait for you to go after
them. Its very boring. One reason I dont like SF2, BORING - all these
Ken/Ryu players fireball fireball fireball uppercut, etc
I always ply a variety even if I'm up against teh computer, I am
continulaly taking EVERYONE. I'd like to see these people who call
themselves 'awesome' try that against me. WITHOUT running out the
timer because they have toi get the right character to beat mine

Actually, I have found that with all the new chars. if you wait for your oponenet to pick first, you can pick the most effective person to beat him with. Example.. If someone picks Sub Z. I will pick Baraka because before Z has time to put the ice on the floor, I will be chopping him up. For players who like to JUMP a lot, Ill pick either Scorpion (For his air throw) or more likely (Since I dont realy like Scorp) The Sais bitch (Im always messing up the names!) because she has that nearly invincible teleport kick! If its going to be a fireball war, Ill pick Shang. Send out three, then do combos by morphing and basicaly kick the crap out of anyone who isnt used to the new game and doesnt want to adjust. When ever people pick Liu Kang, I like being Jax, cause if they do that flying kick crap on me, I'll either toss em 4 times and do the vowel punch. I might try and work out a "Whose best vs. Who FAQ" thing.. If you guys have any suggestions, leave em in my E-Mail.. De...@netcom.com

No I think its because they think they know how to play these characters so
they take them. I was cheesy once, took Liu Kang and easily won. But I
prefer playing the new ones. They are quite I think - good enouygh to
beat the old characters if you get used to them a bit.
Mileena's ground teleport. Kitana's fan throw and fan lift or whatever.
Barakas moves! Jax's close moves. Shang Tsung's fireballs.
I think the people who are taking the old characters are actually missing
out. Why not just play mK1? I'll play against an old chracter any day
(though Liu Kang you have to be careful.
Oh yeah, SubZero is tricky playing against. I dopnt think hes super
good but I get caught by the freeze too often.
LAST NOTE:
Throws dont seem to be as cheap, except when the computer uses them.
How do you do Jax's quadruple slam? I cant throw with high punch.

>Barakas moves! Jax's close moves. Shang Tsung's fireballs. ^^^^^^ Speaking of Baraka... Cheapest move I've ever seen : Back em into a corner, and blade fury over and over and over and ... you get the idea. If you can escape this, there were 5 people who, in a total of 15+ games, never figured it out :) You can block but that just delays your inevitable death. >How do you do Jax's quadruple slam? I cant throw with high punch. I don't know.. I think you throw them THEN hit HP over and over. At least this is what it looked like to me. Everyone at the local place-that-has-MK2 got a real kick out of this move. 10 people all going "BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!" or laughing. Jax is REAL popular, followed by Baraka, Cage, and then Reptile.. Strangely in about 2 hours I saw only one person use Shang Tsung, I expected him to be more popular than that. -- | Mitch Burton | Think of it | | pel...@netcom.com | as evolution | | pel...@io.com | in action |

Okay, once you hity low punch and Jax lifts tehm up just start tapping High punch really quick. It works for me. Actually I'm back to using my old favorite, Cage, then Jax and Sub-0. Shang T wouldn't be bad but you just have to be really quick to pull off his morphs, and even then you'll probably still get nailed in mid morph. >| Mitch Burton | Think of it | >| pel...@netcom.com | as evolution | >| pel...@io.com | in action | > -- G.A.
