You have four possible solutions:
1) Play Mileena, and out-cheese them. :) That teleport kick is dangerous
the first few times you use it. Afterwards, people catch on quickly and
tend to use block more often. This would be a short-term solution at best.
2) Play Raiden, and out-cheese them. At least you would get play time on
the new machine. The hand press during a jumping move is dangerous.
3) Don't play the new machine at all. Ok, that's not a solution.
4) Get the moves list, print it, and demonstrate the cool moves of some of
the new characters (Reptile invisibility, Baraka slice-n-dice, etc).
If you're lucky, they may get interested in trying some of the new
characters.
Personally, I use option 1, followed by option 4. As a consequence, nearly
everyone at our arcade can do most moves. Sheesh, the attendant gives out
a move list to everyone who buys $10 of tokens. It's not nearly as good as
the FAQ, and is not as up-to-date as the net.wisdom.
ObMKIIGripe: We have 1.0 ROMs in our MKII machine. The computer opponent
pulls off FAR too many throwing moves, ALL IN A ROW! No block,
no counter. Only solution I've found is to not get thrown. :)
ObMKIIGripe2: Liu Kang with the upper/lower firebolts, and Johnny Cage with
the upper/lower balls makes the game very unbalanced. Granted,
it's only 1.0 ROMs, but I expect there's plenty of tuning yet
to be done. Liu Kang and Johnny Cage are overwhelming as is.
ObMKIIQuery: Is it just me, or are most of the "Sonya" moves somewhat
duplicated in Kitana? (Air punch, Fan throw)
ObMKIIStrategy: I like using Shang Tsung, then morphing into Mileena or
Kitana. Kitana's Fan Freeze usually solves the Liu Kang
Flying Kick or other character's jumping kick, and Mileena's
Teleport Kick usually solves the projectile-throwing or
jump-kicking problems. Not to mention Shang Tsung's Flaming
Skulls, especially when you mix up how many you throw each
time. Skulls also give you time to morph, and the morph to
the two ninja ladies is quicker than most.
ObMKIIFlameBait: None. Who needs it? Others will take care of that. :)
