First off...I would like to say I rented the super nes version
of Mortal Kombat..the graphics rule..the control is horrible, and
there are many bugs in this one as well...everyone (almost) can just be
foot swept and some of the lamer fatalities...which you all know what
they are...just doesnt give this version a good name..oh and I
got to reptile..but get this...I lost my first round and then the
second round i got a flawless and did a fatality..so you needn't get
a double flawless.

Sometimes reptile will appear during rounds and give you hints on how
to get to him...its pretty lame though...but I did order the genesis
version (because the mags say its better) so I'll find out tomorrow
if I just blew $62.00

Sorry, but you did just blow that $62 .. the SNES version isn't as good as
the arcade, but it to MUCH MUCH MUCH better than Genesis .. The main
problem with the Genesis version is that they don't have very many of the
sounds from the arcade. I think Scorpion's "Get over here" is about it...

They have just one set "uh" sound for when anyone gets hit .. not
individual voices like SNES. Although Gene's intros are pretty cool, the
actually game playing SUCKS!

Later,
 John

$62 is way too much for the Genesis version, regardless of quality. It
can be found for a little over $50, I think.

It may LOOK or SOUND much much better but it plays much much worse.

The main problem with your arguement is that somehow the gameplay takes
a back seat to the A/V. You're playing a video game, not watching some
movie.

Obviously, you haven't played the Genesis version.

I didn't realize you could perform a fatality before winning 2 rounds.
On the arcade you can block and lose on the first round, but if you
get the 2xflawless+fatality-block on the next two you will get to reptile.

I have to support STP in this issue (did I ever disagree
with him ? :)). Look & Sound has nothing to do with gameplay.
They're 2, well actually, three different issues. I played
both the snes & genesis versions, and I only keep the Genesis
version because it has better gameplay, for example, the timing
of the moves are closer to the arcade. For me, it is also easier
to perform a move on the Genesis pad than the Snes pad. The ending
sequence for Genesis MK is closer to the arcade ending.

BTW, the game only costed me $50.
Perhaps the segacd version will put in all the sounds and missing
frames, and it will probably be cheaper ($41 according to the
current quote from Marty). Let's wait and see.
