I'm curious what the more effective combos you whizzes know.

The few I know are:

Jump in with kick, followed by:

Raiden: Flying body attack, or teleport and sweep
Kano: The BALL
Sub-Zero: Slide
Liu Kang: Flying kick

Sweep, followed by:

Raiden: Flying body attack
Sonya: Leg toss, followed by a sonic rings to the other side
Scorpion: Grapple

Even if they block, they're sure to take damage from this:

Jumping punch, repeated low punches then projectile....

But BEWARE: you are vulnerable after this to perhaps switch the projectile
to a crouching kick. Might leave you less vulnerable.

The most nasty and evil thing in the game is the "jump in, do nothing then throw"

Considered 'cheap' by most ex-SF2ers, this is COMMON among MKers. Remember,
the only thing that counts is victory in MK. See ya at the arcade..

I'm getting quite sick and tired of always hearing you non-players out there
asking for moves, combos, advice ..etc..etc..etc. If you want to LEARN how
to play you MUST DEVELOP YOUR OWN STYLE. Once you know the basics such as
how to block, kick, punch, special moves then you should do your own thing.

This opinion is not directed at anyone personally but it's directed at those
who want to copy other peoples' styles and not develop thier own.

By developing your own style and psychy only then will you be on the path that
will lead you to greatness in Mortal Kombat.

One more thing if any of you out there would like to see if I'm as good
as I claim to be just e-mail me and we can possibly make arrangements.

UNTIL NEXT TIME...

Being one of the wimpier players, I'll have to disagree. Around here,
it costs $0.50 to play. It's too darned expensive to experiment and
develop one's own style! Now that I'm getting a bit better at the game,
I do a little bit of experimenting in the earlier rounds, but do go back
to the "canned combos" when I'm getting into trouble.

If we actually knew the attack/recovery times for all the characters, it
might be possible to prove that there is an "optimal" combo for any given
character. Why settle for less?

What if I'm not destined for greatness? Can't I just enjoy the scenery?

You're probably quite good. No doubts. But the question is:
Do the strong merely exist to prey on the weak?

So I know to be even *more* afraid? :-)

scorpion: jump in, buffer the harpoon, then release if the opponent is
knocked backward, should catch 'em as they're fallin' from your
kick (does take some timin', of course)

I believe I was told that the harpoon has about a 2 second buffer
time, so you can buffer, then release when reasonable, takes a bit
of timin', and it's move I did learn from someone else (to the one
who professes that moves should be learned by the self, it's rather
expensive, and not to mention, you tend to incorporate the moves of
other, until you do develop your own 'style')

*stifled laughter* please... most MK'ers here complain about my throw tactics,
cause I am an SFII player. They're less likely to complain if I'm playin' SFII.
It's an absurd argument. Common? Au contrare... tres gauche on your part.
