Heliports, helicopters and the like

Has anyone ever noticed that when heliports become available, and you start
to use the heliport, your helicopters never get serviced in a hanger in
their life, and reliability drops down to 0%
This only crossed my mind a couple of days ago. This was the first time I'd
got the heliports - I'd only bought the game a few days ago in Electronics
Boutique for a tenner - so I only noticed it when I was having to replace an
old helicopter, which is a pain, as I had to give the helicopter an order to
go to the airport so I could send it to the hangar. I think Chris Sawyer had
forgotten about this when he created this game. The heliports should be a
few squares bigger to incorporate a hangar.
I also hate the way companies are getting away cheaply and giving you the
game manual on the disk. I would much rather read a nice big manual, instead
of having to go and switch the computer on so I can read the manual. I
always like to make sure I've read a manual inside out before I play, but
now I have only read a few lines. It's an outrage!!!!

Good luck to everyone in the contest: these are (as of 12-08-99)

Eddie of Anywhere in the World Inc.
Mr. XL of XL Lines
Peet of Global Transport Corporation
Kit of AnkitPayal Movers and Shakers
Shatter of Shatter Transport Systems
Eraser of Schoolbus Transport Co.
Scott Williams of ThunderValley Transport (Shatter's brother)
and Chris Locke - who I presume is in it - of Unnamed (as he hasn't filled
out an entry yet)

May the best Tycoon win!

Eddie

You presume correct. Unfortunately, I also seem to be the only one who
doesn't have the damn scenario (its on my work server - currently in bits)
so I haven't started playing yet.

Bummer, I know

I get around this - I use helicopter routes that go from an airport (often
one of the old, small ones) to an inner city heliport.

My biggest gripe about helicopters is that you can't use them after a certain
time. The ones you have access to become out of date, and are withdrawn from
the market, and a replacement is never designed.

Well, cant you just buy up helicopters early on and stash them
somewhere? :)

I leave you with today's subliminal message:

"Helicopter 1 urgently needs replacement"

Yeah, but the message itself doesn't mean the
chopper stops flying. I often have an old SH30
or similar running a shuttle that isn't worth
upgrading until well after the monorail comes
along. You get 'XXX...needs replacing" messages
all the time, but I've learned to ignore them.

cheers...

Until they plop into the sea.
Glug glug glug. Oh well. Get the oil tankers to drag it out.
