According to the website you can still play 5 hours a month for free,
but I guess it will not bring back the memories of those days.

Sigh.... I'm old!

In China Windows has a market share of 99.99999%. Chinese do not even
know what an operating system is. I do find it funny though that
people sometimes ask me to make their Windows look as beautiful as my
extremely simple Xfce setup. That is, until I start up Lynx and say
that it is the only way I can browse websites on my computer.

Oh, people do know Apple products though. The brand name is extremely
popular yet nobody can afford Apple products.

Lynx is so oldschool. Links is the new web 3.0!

Also, I should get around to switch to xfce.

What are you using now? Something tells me this year is so NOT the
year of the Linux desktop. KDE I've always hated. Gnome has gone
insane as well and then there's Ubuntu with their Unity crap. The only
good thing about it all is that Windows 8 is looking even worse than
all of them combined.

Clay soaked Grunings?? I am not even from that part of the province.
No clay around where I am from. I am pretty fluent in well, some sort
of mixture between Westerwolds and Veenkoloniaals though. Yet, it is a
dying language with Dutch taking over rapidly.

Hmmm... I am not sure if it's nitroglycerin they're putting in their
chocolate, but it sure as hell is not edible. There's only one
chocolate brand doing good business in China and that's Dove, a
brandname from the Mars company. There are some Chinese brands in
business as well and even though they're a whole LOT cheaper, nobody
buys them because they taste like...well, nothing like chocolate at
all.

Is it just me or am I talking too much about China here?

And the Dutch speakers are fearing being taken over by English. Even
though the real threat is Chinese with all those snackbars.

We've got Dove chocolate over here. And Dove soap. It's best not to mix
the two up. I must say that the taste of chocolate varies country by
country. Both Polish and British chocolate is quite different from
Verkade or Van Houten. Then there's the huge variety in Belgian
chocolate or the specific company tastes like Daim, Milka or Tomblerone.

Hmm... I seem to have forgotten what normal chocolate tastes like
then. I always take Dove as the standard, though some stores have
Cadburry as well. Does that count. In the Netherlands I always bought
AH Chocolate.

Hmmm, AH is a strange choice, even if it is the biggest Dutch

Make sure you do not eat Dove soap while wanting to eat Dove chocolate.

Actually, it is a lot easier to have what it takes to be literate in
Chinese than you would probably think, since the official literacy
standards are very low. You only need to know about 1500 characters
and you're considered to be literate. That's about comparable to a
peasant who can read aap, noot and mies.

So I guess one way of raising the literacy rate in a country is by
lowering the literacy requirements.

You ass!!! I was halfway through mies before I caught on you were
switching to Dutch (instead of the Chinese, I assumed). Have you got any
idea how weird that sounded in my head???

> So I guess one way of raising the literacy rate in a country is by

Strangely, if kids these days get the tests of one or two generations
ago, they do tend to get higher grades. At least on the stuff that
stayed the same. Claims students these days are dumber seem unfounded.
However there does seem to be a increasing tendency to study to the
test. Try and figure out what's on the test, study that, forget the rest.

Another weird thing about studies in the Netherlands. Send them to a
college and have them specialize in one subject, then force them to
choose courses outside their subject they're likely to never use again.
If they don't, they won't graduate.

You mean you have a sound system in your head? Now that's weird! I'm
not switching to Chinese again, as Dutch is a much nicer language.
Let's make it the most important language in the world.

Oh, I was forced to do that actually. If I remember correctly it was
the first or second year since they introduced this requirement at my
faculty. Though in my case it was my major I would never use again
rather than the additional courses I was forced to choose.
