One of the recordings I heard while waiting on the line was that Doom started shipping on Dec. 27th. I still don't have mine either. All orderes queued BEFORE December 27th should have been received
by now. Since you ordered on the 30th, give it a few more days.

That is EXACTLY what happened to me! No if ands or buts, your story is exactly the same. I did however manage to speak to David @ ID. He assured me that he would personally take care of me since they had screwed up so badly. Well, that was on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd of December. Nothing was done then and I still don't have the registered version of DOOM. I would just like to know what happened?, nothing more.............. who knows, maybe one day I will get a present in the mail! Naaaaaahh That won't happen. The sad thing is that if the order was simply lost and they have no record whatsoever or my order reguest, then it boils down to my word verus theirs! At the moment, with ID's track record, I think the courts would be more inclined to believe me! hehe....... -- -- ________________________________________________________________ Miles Lester | "Why are we here? les...@mail.auburn.edu | Because we're here, mlester@auducvax.bitnet | Roll the Bones" (rush) _____ Administrative Computing Services Auburn University ______

Here's what happened with Doom (or at least what they told me) First of all, you probably all know about the bug that caused the Dec. 17 shipping date to be pushed back to the 27th. Then, according to the recording, all overnight and next-day orders were accidentally sent first class. Also, all people who ordered with their Discover card had their orders bounced by Discover. All of this amounts to nothing for me though- I ordered before Christmas to give as a gift, nothing by two days before Christmas. Called and called the busy signal, faxed a note and (gasp) they called me back and assured me that I would get it by Christmas. Needless to say, I gave the shareware version as the Christmas gift with the promise of the registered version soon to come. Anyway, no disks as of this week. I called yesterday to cancel the damned thing (and amazingly, I got through) and it turns out that all of the HOURS that I tried to get through between my order and new year's amounted to SQUAT because the order company had lost my order Actually the IDSoftware people are really very helpful once you get through. They also promised to switch their order company. So, if you haven't gotten yours yet, check your credit card company and if the charge isn't on it, you were probably lost too. (HINT: Once you do get through, press 9 for customer service- otherwise you have to listen to the options forever). -JV
