Got my copy registered! The other 2 games with it are cool!

Strange... never thought I'd get a game which my 486 can barely run acceptably!!!

The new 1.2 version should fix that... What I did in the meantime is replace
the DOOM.EXE from the registered version with the DOOM.EXE from the shareware
1.0 (v 0.99) and rename my DOOM.WAD to DOOM1.WAD... The game runs like a movie
now (30 fps)...

I'm a little bit confused here... what did doom.wad > doom1.wad accomplish?

The procedure you have just described updates what exactly? Does it transfer
the dos extender patch from the .99 > 1.1 upgrade to the full version?

My registered version is still in the mail <sniff> but we've been having
a heck of a time with doom over our little network here... deathmatch is
awesome.
