Downloaded and tried the latest version- it has potential, but is still a bit
too rough for me.
1) After a few minutes of use, both my regular flashlight and the ducttape
light on the guns started to flicker off for short periods of a second or so,
every 8-10 seconds. Nasty bug.
2) The cone of light is now too narrow- they need to enlarge it some, to
where it is at least half the diameter of the regular flashlight's beam. With
the bob and weave of the weapon it is attached to, that tiny little beam is
barely wide enough to encompass the aiming crosshairs, when it bobs away
from them. Not a biggie when wandering around, but when trying to aim
and shoot in a battle, the tiny bobbing beam makes aiming quite difficult.
Pretty much does away with any benefit of having the damn thing. I found
myself retreating away to find ambient light sources to aim by, and not using
the useless bobbing pencil-beam.
It's too bad this light has to be tied to the bobbing of the guns, as that bob
should not occur (but does) when you have a gun raised and are aiming and
firing it. It would be nice if it was tied to the crosshair, not the guns. Maybe
not purely realistic, but a whole lot more useful and less annoying. But then,
your gun bobbing like that while you're aiming and shooting it is not at all
realistic, either. At least widen the beam diameter some, to alleviate this a little.
3) The beam is now too bright. Dim it down halfway between where it is now,
and the brightness of the regular flashlight.
4) It badly needs a toggle, so you can have the ducttape light either on or
off, while holding those weapons. There are plenty of times where you neither
need it, nor want it on.
Summary: Make beam a little wider and slightly less bright; anchor it to
crosshairs, if possible; make beam toggle-able; fix flicker-off bug. All mods
are initially works-in-progress... this one just needs a little more tweaking
to be a great one.
As it is now, it's too clunky to do much good- with the fixes listed above,
it would be perfect!
