hah! Old guys eh? :) Yeah.

My son really REALLY wanted SO badly to try out the 9800 Pro...I let
him. I've got the FX5900 in now. Oddly enough, I am still getting the
exact same texture flickering in Q3A, and now in Doom3 also. Games that
are NOT flickering: Half-Life, Morrowind, UT2004, Quake2. This is with
both/either card. Now the ones that have flicker with both/either are
Q3A/TA, Far Cry, Halo.
I haven't tried Doom3 with the 9800 Pro. Son won't part with it without
a fight now :) He's a former Marine and I'm getting kinda old for that
horsin around stuff ;)
The system he's running the 9800 Pro on with NO problems whatsoever:
Gigabyte mobo, don't remember the model, SiS chipset tho, AMD Athlon
3200+, 512 megs PC3200 at DDR400 (Micron)(single channel mobo). Built
in sound, XP Pro. He's running Halo in 1280x1024 no probs at all. Far
Cry, no probs.
So, my thinking is that since some games are doing fine but some are
not, and it's the same ones with both vid cards...hardware is ok, Opsys
needs reinstalling. AND, the 160 gig drive needs to be formatted to one
NTFS partition, not 1 Fat32 partition. I've gone through 3 mobos, 3 vid
cards, 2 sound cards since installing the 160g and XP Pro fresh and
clean. No reinstalls since. Overdue?
McG.
