Using spells will probably be handled in the same way as >weapons...and there will likely NOT be an inventory. This is good and bad. While the "immersion" can be quite nice (the scenery in DOOM is quite interesting), there is a level of immersion being left out of a lot of games. No game has immersed me as much as the Ultima Underworld games -- these provided the pretty scenery AND an interesting story with interesting people that I could talk to and interact with. Wolf and DOOM and games like them are meant to provide a different type of immersion (one where you blow everything to hell and have a heck of a time doing it too!), but there is still something missing. This is not to say that I find anything missing from DOOM (except a bug-free VM system - mine dies at the most inoportune times) - It's just that there is the possibility in games of the fantasy (Tolkein) genre for much more immersion by providing more than action Action ACTION! I would hope that, if Quake doesn't provide more depth, that someone (hopefully Id) will take their kick-butt engine and make a game that takes weeks to finish (wistful memories of the great Dungeon Master...) It is possible to have both. >-- >*-----------*---------------------------*-----------------------* >| William R | E-mail: | O O Have a day | >| Lachance | ad...@FreeNet.carleton.ca | ---- | >*-----------*---------------------------*-----------------------* -- Paul Miller Software Engineer | "The opinions expressed by me do not necessarily ASDG, Inc. | reflect those of my employers." - Anonymous
