Personally I don't see why the engine, which has been shown off pretty nicely in DOOM, cannot now be used in a different series as well, to cater for the RPGers amongst us. DOOM is fun; UW was fun. but the engine in UW was a lot more sophisticated and used a lot less really clever tricks than DOOM. So any RPG you make for it will not be UW. It will be as good, but different. And I like variety. I would buy an RPG using this engine, even though you cannot look up or down (It assumes all lines will be vertical), and cannot even have bridges using objects like UW (All objects are 2D, and stretch from floor to ceiling, hence you cannot stand on them, just walk through,ie corpses & bonuses, or bump into,ie monsters & pillars). This object restriction would mean that UW-like object-manipulation would be impossible. -- -- D.Morgan@uk.ac.bradford PLEASE FLAME!
