I permed the normal mule game as per usual, dropped the bow and some
gems and SSG's old spear, intending to pass them over to my rune mule,

You have my sympathies. (I reckon Riphook is likely better anyway than an 
Edge Rune bow...)

Well I lost the bow, the Tir and it turned out I'd cubed up my Amn's

I don't have Lycander's, but I have some other unique bows I've muled, 
including a Witchwild.  I also have some white Amazon bows with + bow 
skills, and Tir and Amn runes aplenty.  Whisper me when you see me online if 
you would like something.  I'd be happy to help.

170 makes me wonder if it's that seriously important to worry about it.  ?

You looking to gain a point or two more damage?  I'll trade you for yours if 
mine's better.  It could be a while before I'm making a Bowazon.

Nice. 3 off perfect. Depending on what base damage the bow rolled with it 
could be a good one.

Well, when you consider that the bow has 1% Deadly Strike per clvl (and a 
Witchyzon puts several points at least into the skill) then that 150 - 170% 
range is really more like +300 - 340% ED to a high-level zon. (I've upped 
mine to a Diamond Bow too.)

Yeah, my (currently) Witchyzon strafer is using a 161% bow (thanks Kaytie) 
which has the sockets populated with +ED% jewels (I think maybe a 23% and a 
27%, one I had and the other courtesey of Kaytie). I was hoping to find 
another, higher ED one as they're (usually) not uncommon and use higher ED 
jewels in it or, if the rune drops are what they're cracked up to be, a 
couple of OHMs for +50% ED each.

However the runes aren't exactly raining from the sky (at least for me) so 
if I get big rune I'll likely go the Faith way. However a higher +ED WWS and 
higher +ED jewels is perhaps an option. The difference between your WWS and 
mine is only 6% though and I haven't found any higher ED jewels yet either. 
Therefore the question's moot really. If yours was 170%, I has a couple 40% 
ED jewels (or aforementioned OHMs spare) *and* you had no plans for a bowyer 
I'd consider begging it from you. As it is it's not worth it my friend,

I thought damage was fixed on base items, min and max.  Yes, I believe it 
is, so the "roll" is the ED%, which, as you say, is 3% off perfect.

Ahh..  Now it begins to make sense.  (Blame my cloistered game life playing 
weak but wizardly girls.)

Good enough, then, mate.  I was planning to eventually build a Bowazon, 
since I seem to be finding just about every bow one could want.  Sorcy's 
just about "finished," and I have just a small trek to finish the pally.  I 
have a Necro pre-teen whose tag-along is an Amazon, so when he gets to Hell, 
she'll have all those skill and stat points to distribute, plus the base 30% 
res-all.  Pally pulled along a barb in the same way, which let the barb 
actually equip the complete Sigon's set I collected at the minimum required 
level, 6.   At 12, he got as a pair of Angelic rings along with the ammy. 
That barb is living a childhood of royalty.  The 'Zon will also live such a 
life when the time comes.  I never thought of "prebuffing" a toon this way, 
but it's certainly a help.
