In accordance with the Just Fucking Google It treaty of 2004, I just
fucking Googled it and found the 1.12a patch for download from
Blizzard. I suppose I can always run this, at least, to get a bit of a
new lease on the original version of the game.

I also found a fix for whatever problem the game might be
experiencing, although as I said there was no problem with gameplay
for me so far and the incompatibility does not seem to have stopped
the game form working. Still:

If you want to run D2 in windowed mode you have to right click your
Diablo 2 shortcut, go to properties, and in the "Target:" field you
should see something like

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe"

Just add

-w

to the end of that (after the quotes and with a space between) so it
looks like

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -w

This may fix the problem.

It does not, however, necessarily help me with the Chaos Empire issue.
The last known installation of Chaos Empire I used insisted on the
1.10 patch of Lord of Destruction.

I looked for this too, but couldn't find much even on the Chaos Empire
home page. It looks like I need to register to look at their FAQ and
downloads and things. Can anyone testify as to the effectiveness of
this mod in this day and age?
