Hi Mark,

Angie doesn't get to usenet often and hasn't been here since she created
that account. She didn't look, and didn't know, that I'd already asked you
to update her details.

Cheers,

No, it's usually Short's fault, even if he isn't here
to defend himself.

Ah yes, good old Short. The originator of the Stand By the Stash
upgrading technique, Master Dirt-Napper, and blame-magnet. I wonder if

Well, apparently when he wrote it I decided to save it on my comp and I still
have it. Here's shorts guide called "Keys to success":

Keys seem to be classified as useless junk, and for what reason? I can't
tell you how many full games I've been in with 7 other people missing out on
all of the goodies, because they didn't have any keys. Apparently all of
those 150 pdscs were more important. I just don't understand it.

All of my characters have at least 3 squares of keys (36 keys), and never
leave home without them. A Barb without a key is like a cat without claws.
Sure, its still a cat, but its not complete :o)

Keys are useful, for a couple of reasons. The first one being the goodies.
As all of you know, I like the goodies. Not that I ever find many, but
quite a few of the ones I find tend to come from locked chests. If you are
doing Mephisto runs, there are at LEAST 8 (I think there are more, but I
can't remember for sure) chests on Durance 3. How many times are some or
all of those chests locked? Ok, quit screaming already, its probably not
that many ;) But, how are you going to feel when you go back to town, and
the little leecher just popped a Vampire Gaze out of that locked chest, just
because you didn't have any keys?? I for one would probably PK myself, out
of stupidity. But, I always have keys, so that wouldn't happen to me.

The most enjoyable benefit of always picking up keys, is trade value. You
know all of those spammers advertising clean unid'd Windforces, Burizas etc?
Whisper them, and tell them you want to meet in game to trade. When they
put it in the trade window, start filling your trade box with.......you got
it. KEYS! Most players really appreciate this, and will most likely offer
to repay you buy inviting you out to discuss it further in the Blood Moor.
Some people I've tried to accomodate this way, and sometimes I decline. It
all depends on how friendly you really are.

Why aren't keys used as currency, instead of the ever-elusive SoJ? Anyone
can find keys, they're even more plentiful than chipped gems in Act 1!

So, if anyone has any Windforces, CCBs or Grandfathers muled away, I have
the keys waiting for your offers!!

Heh! Yep, that's it. Amusing. <g>

I always carry one square of keys on all of my characters and, once I open a
locked chest part of my brain logs it to remind me to replenish the stock of
keys next time I see one on the ground. I rarely run out. Often if I'm going
from Durance 2 WP to Meph I'll carry two squares of keys. I can always drop
some if I need the space, it's not like they're expensive.

There's not much point in MFing if you're ignoring potential sources of
goodies IMO.

Cheers,
