  There is a book somwhere on the level.  Read it, and it will give you
access to that room (It's probably something like the Chamber of Bone or
Halls of the Blind, or one of the small quest packages....)
  The rock is on a pedestal somwhere on (usually) level 5.  If it's in
the darkness, tho, it can be very hard to spot....

  Read what he said...  'Come back later' is a big hint...  When you
come back he'll tell you it's not quite done, try again in a little
bit.  After a while, he'll have something else for ya...  :)
