I'm running Win98, 1.4 gig, 768 meg Ram, built in Via sound. My D2 is patched to ver 1.2. Here are my problems with D2X. 1. There is a delay in the sound. I fire a weapon & about a second later, I hear it. 2. When I hit shift/F4 to bring up the Bot menu, the game freezes. (no menu) 3.When I fire guided missiles, missile view is full screen. 4. Sometimes after a game save or restore, I lose all sound. When I try to restart the game, it freezes. I have to Ctl-Alt-Del to quit the game. After a restart, sound is working again. Hope someone can help.

Read the following and do the fix:

I had that exact problem on my WinXP box with CygWin compiling d2x, both
0.2.0 and 0.2.4 versions. It went away when I downloaded and installed the
latest SDL.DLL binary for win32 from libsdl.org. I replaced every copy of
the DLL I had on my hard drive. I didn't try that initially because
compiling d2x seems to require having the SDL source code with its
sdl-config script. I kept the SDL source so I can re-compile d2x, but I use
the binary distribution of SDL.DLL.
I also had the same problem of only being able to run d2x-sdl.exe once
before having to reboot. And it crashed a LOT. The new DLL fixed that too.
Also I noticed some of the SDL self-tests failed in my environment, but d2x
seems to work great.
I've produced a few new features I may try to submit
as patches...

Sound problems with D2X, and the delay, are normally related to the sdl.dll. Download the latest official SDL and you will be fine: http://www.libsdl.org/release/SDL-1.2.6-win32.zip As for the bot menu, this is a know bug, but, the game is not frozen, if you know the number of the order you wanna give him, just hit it and you will see that the game returns and the bot will follow the new order. This is just for the OpenGL version, it is fine with the Windows only. The save/restore problem is new to me, never had it. You will be probably better supported if you post this at the Descent Source mailing list: http://www.descent2.com/lists/descent%2Dsource/ Brian "Patch" <bob_acord@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:tDo2b.84794$Ij4.11668@news2.central.cox.net... > I'm running Win98, 1.4 gig, 768 meg Ram, built in Via sound.
