How about SVGA Descent (i.e. 640x480)? Yeah, I know you'd probably need a
P90 to run it, but between playing Magic Carpet and Wing Commander III,
I'm convinced it's the way to go, at least as an option.

Another good idea would be to create a stereoscopic Descent (without
the VR Helmet, of course). Even if you have to use the awful red/
blue things, it would be incredible.

Well ay least 320x480 or one of those other lower-than-
640x480-but-higher-than-320x200 modes. That would still
be a VAST improvement over the 320x200 MCGA mode
that all action PC games have been using for years. Also it
shouldn't be TOO difficult as the above listed modes are in
fact VGA standards.

I'd sell my soul to be able to get a copy of Descent that could run
in one of the ModeX resolutions. Since video is rendered offscreen
anyway, all you need is a function to copy the whole thing, and that's
not any big time problem in ModeX, as well as a fairly small code
addition. If it's any help, I have a set of
C functions which will set and of the ModeX resolutions in Watcom C++.
No ASM is used, only C. The good resolutions are 320x240, 360x270, and
400x300, since these all have a perfect 4x3 aspect ratio and therefore
square pixels.

PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!

I'd even pay up to $80 for Descent at 400x300 resolution.
