Segments that lasers go through

Ok, I've been tinkering w/ various level type segments and stuff, and
have come across a hitch.

I have a 6 segments defined in such a way that they form one large cube
with a smaller cube in the center. All the segments have all the exact
same attributes EXCEPT for the children and the vertices that they use
(total of 16 vertices).

Now, when I load up this level in descent, I see the two squares fine.
However, when I shoot, my bullets/rockets/whatever go right through the
outside square. They explode on impact with the smaller square. What
is causing this? I have this problem on another level I created that is
just one large square made from two segments (of 1/2 the size of the
square--each segment has only one child). When I had all the vertices
arranged to form a perfect sqaure, everything was fine. When I streched
two of the vertices out a ways, bullets and such could go through the
side at certain points.

Also, wherever the bullets go through, I can move my syhip right NEXT to
going out, but can not fly my ship through. Bullets fired out make no
noise when my ship is facing out and as close to going out as I can make it.

Thanks for any information or ideas you may have. Does the direction of
the UV scaling have anything to do w/ the normals of collision or
anything? That's the only thing I can see that could cause it (i use
the same scaling parameters for each of the sides of the segments)

Did you create the level with the Devil editor?
I read in the devil docs it has something to do with the angles of the
sides of cubes so devil has kept me from making that mistake.
BTW Devil is an awesome editor with a couple of bugs though.
