Yes! The first editor arrives! Definitely fills up my weekend! >From my first look at it, it's very impressive. I've used various DOOM Editors, and this is eaiser to use than most all of them (after reading the doc's, of course). It is taking me a while to get the hang of some finer details, but I have constructed 2 test levels - 1 from the tutorial, and 1 from scratch on my own. Nothing to get excitied about, but I've got all the goodies in them. The included DEMO level is very interesting, including the "tunnel through the middle of a room" effect! (Way Cool!) Here's looking forward to many wonderful levels! ================================================= "But nothing's predictable in this tough, harsh, highly competitive world, where today's champion is tomorrow's crocidile shit." -- Monty Python ================================================= - Nobody's Hero Christopher Thach WJU...@prodigy.com

While the Descent engine allows this kind of thing, it will certainly do strange things to the AI (once robots are placed in the mine). It's sure cool to look at, even if it's not so realistic. -- Adam Pletcher Parallax Software ad...@netcom.com

It opens some *really* nasty opportunities when designing a level filled
with 'impossible' rooms and passages, especially if you can have dozens
of passages and rooms occupying the same space... Or just design
something like this:
door
##------##
##########
This is how it looks from the outside, but the door (can be a secret one
as well) leads into a real passage to something else, a new room or
section - perhaps even the reactor.
Perhaps (I'm still waiting to get my DEVIL to like my graphics card) its
even possible to create stand alone doors in the middle of a room,
looking like it's just a door leading nowhere, but you can open it from
both sides and each has a passage or similar behind that leads
elsewhere...
