Evading homing missles

In the registered version I seem to be unable to evade the homing
missiles. They follow me in other rooms and tunnels. Does anyone
have any good tips and breaking their lock?

They are harder to break lock. But there are two ways you can do it.
1. get a solid object between you and the missle
2. if you can cut a turn inside the turning radius of the
missle (easily done in big rooms) then you can make it hit
the wall. (assuming that you are near enough to the wall)
   - however, it's really hard to do w/ keyboard (IMHO)

Also, if you have a proximity bomb, back away from the homing missle,
drop one and keep it between you and the missle. The missle will impact
on the bomb instead of hitting you.

I thought that flares would attract the homing missiles?

Go towards them, then when they're almost on you, strafe around them.

Bombs work!

Also, if you are in a large sized room, fly toward a wall about 2 ship
lengths from the ground, then slide down and hit reverse just as you are
about to hit the wall. The missle can't make such sharp turns, then rams
the wall.

Of course, I just try to charge the Red Hulks, because by the time I
dodge the missle, another's on my tail :)

Charging with all guns flailing isn't the best idea, but if I must, I often
throw a bunch of flares their way in the process. *Most* of the time it seems
to confuse them or their missiles long enough (i.e. they don't hit me) for my
plasma cannon do a complete job on them.
