It may sound like a good idea at first blush, but it doesn't make much sense. One of the things I appreciate about Descent is the attempt to keep things as realistic as possible--when you run into walls you take damage, you can easily damage yourself with your own weapons, and so on. If you were really fighting the types of battles in the game you wouldn't have any idea of whether or not you'd hit your enemy...you'd have to check to be sure, and risk the damage when you did. How often have you heard someone say "Did we get him?" in a war movie? Same thing. It adds tension to the battles. Also, if you really want a simple hit indicator just watch your score. When you kill something you'll see a point total flash in the upper right- hand corner of the screen. I almost wish this could be turned off, for the reasons above. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- John Caruso \ On the surface he seems sensible car...@paradiso.umuc.edu \ But underneath the logic is crazy... caruso@UMUC (Bitnet) \ -- Mark Burgess ----------------------------------------------------------------------
