I built the GLA buildings (I also built the Chinese but never in fact used them: guess I could have used it to churn out hackers but I didn't). I was told to build a Scud Storm, but I try not to use superweapons so I might have gone without. Build up Triple A vehicles to protect from Comanches and rocket buggies to help the former defeat ground forces (all coming from the US base in the south east). Build infantry and acquire Capture Building. Take the force toward the US base. Capture gunsites and oil derricks as you go, and collect UN supplies. Guard the isthmus from US forces while you build up. Storm the US base, taking out the Patriots and combat forces only. Use infantry to capture everything else intact. Churn out Paladins (along with alternate tranches of Triple A and rocket buggies from the Arms Dealer). The Build Paladin option comes free - no General's ability required. I then churned out a second Arms Dealer by the US base, simply to speed up and simplify Triple A and buggy production. I also sent Jarmen Kell clockwise round the map to recce the northern exit from the main US base, simply to know if / when they were moving: I had no intention of committing him to battle. I churned out a tranche of Comanches and parked them north of my own base as strategic reserve. I found that going into the main US base from either end, I got cheesed, but if I took my entire force up the middle of the map, I was able to force my way through and split his forces. I simply took everything northward to clear out that half of the base, concentrating on his power (to bring down his Patriots) and any combat troops he threw at me, then I turned on my heels and cleaned out the southern half. I found that simply churning out Paladins, Triple A and buggies like this gave me a force sufficiently well balanced to win the game. Once the Patriots were down, the Comanches were committed with everything else in a single group. Not elegant and I doubt it would work so well on Brutal, but it's a start. If you want to use a Scud Storm, there's a cold fusion reactor farm just north east of the SECOND bridge into the north end of the base. Neil A

Gatlings on most and a few with Speaker towers, then used the rebel ambush to generate infantry to capture the US base. Built two nukes, two Particle cannons and two Scud storms, hammered the northern base with them and cleaned up with the Overlords, pretty easy win.

I'm not surprised it was easy. As someone who spent a good few years in a recce vehicle close to the Inner German Border during the Cold War, I have a rather heightened dislike of tactical nukes and superweapons in general, so my take on C&C is always to try and beat the opposition (whom I allow to have superweapons) without using them myself. It adds a frisson. ;o) Neil A

I've played skirmishes where I've built 12 nukes and waited for them all to charge up before wreaking nuclear havoc on the enemy, and other games where I don't build any. Money is the key, ensure a large, dependable influx of cash and you can do anything you want after that. If I played online I'd probably be slaughtered, but beating the computer isn't hard.
