I am running Win98SE, IE 5.5 on a Athlon 2000+ processor (1.66
Ghz)with 256 MB DDR (266) RAM, 80GB HDD, MSI combo motherboard with
VIA KM266 chipset and a 64 MB Msi GeForce4 MX 440 (4X) AGP card. I am
using the latest Nvidia Drivers.

Can I run C&C:Generals smoothly with the highest graphics settings on
my system? (AA and Anisotropic Filtering are off)

My system is very similar to yours (same processor, HDD, graphics card) but
more memory - when i play i have to have the graphics on low quality at 1024
x 768. Playing against 4 opponents is not bad, sumtimes get slow frame rates
but play against 8 opponents and you've had it - slows down real bad. If you
have the graphics set top high you get very slow framerates -- almost
unplayable. I am pretty sure its the graphics card, as the MX models are
"cut down" versions of their titanium counterparts with slower performance
and features that are unavailable. I hope this helps!
Basically YOU CAN play with that spec but you wont get the most out of
Generals!!!!!

I am pretty sure too that that graphics card will let you down. I have the
same 64MB GeForce 4 MX440 and frankly the game is barely playable.

You can run your game at 800X600 resolution. The game will run a bit
faster.

Have u benchmarked ur system using 3Dmark2001. I have done it and got
a score of
4080. I am going to benchmark it using 3DMark2001 SE in a few days. If
u have benchmark your system, please let me know the score especially
the framerates that u get in the games benchmark. Thanks

I built a pc with the same as yours except it has a 1.8gig AMD chip and is
on WinXP Pro. It was previously on Win98se. Both made a playable game just
fine. I do have the graphics on the lower setting, but it still looks
great. The only problem is if I have the game paused for any length of time
(1 hour maybe), it will lock up the Geforce card. That is to be expected in
the room that the pc is in. Its a really warm room and the card is unfairly
being overheated. If its cool, no problems.

You can always bump up your video card to some of the 128 meg cards out from
Nvidia or ATI that run directx9 as well.

My other machine has a 2000+ chip with an ATI 9500 pro card. The game never
hickups at all.
